I made it to 11 lines.

Something odd happened as I got near the top. The tetrominoes stopped falling unless I was actively tapping the "down" button, so I could take my time and reposition as needed. Or maybe that's a sort of bonus thing that you get for clearing 10+ lines, what do I know?

R-23, dismount!

: "Well, unless you count our little escape just now..."

The nun paused, trying to fight down her guilty feelings enough to continue speaking.

: "If the Abbess is correct, these can prevent a disaster or at least minimize the damage from one. If we're very fortunate there will simply be no disaster, and the orb will vanish once more."

: "The Abbess at the House of Scholars said that when the orb appeared, Alvadan royalty was supposed to gather the rest of the artifacts in order to avert the oncoming catastrophe. Somehow. She didn't say anything on how exactly that was supposed to work, but she did imply that they had appeared at other times before the Reckoning."

Amberly reflected that it was good they had an expert on hand. Her estimate had clearly been off by about two centuries.

: "It fits with what we've been able to determine about the artifacts and where they were found. The orb, in particular, we know has been around for centuries. It is said to presage times of catastrophe, as a warning...and the last time it appeared was...well, before the Reckoning."

: "Blastnation and damn! I cannot reach any of the wounded, you are all packed together like cows!"

: "Marlow has it? Very well, wait a moment." Amberly approached the distracted thief, and (quietly, so as not to disturb whatever was going on with the Captain and the Carmen woman) requested to borrow the crown. Upon receiving it, she returned to her fellow mages.

: "Well, here it is. It certainly looks impressive, does it not?"
