We've had image recognition devices since 1950s.
Also, did China just outdid the USA in science, or is this my imagination?
Image recognition counts as AI. Or at least it did when I was getting my degree.

Rough night. The dust storm did NOT subside, and in fact grew worse as the sun went down. I'm covered in a fine layer of dust and had to struggle to get the truck home while getting blown around with limited visibility. Thankfully it wasn't the worst stuff I've driven in, but it was up there.
