Leaving town didn't exactly strike Jasmine as the best outcome of this little adventure.

: "I think it's a little too soon to say that for sure. We might find something in this fountain-lab to get everyone off our backs. Or the whole thing might still turn out to be bogus. Just saying."

Keyleth had been patched up by Lucette before the mafioso maid got dragged off, but she still felt like crap. This wasn't helping her mood.

: "Yes. Is that a problem?"

: "Ah, I'm not talking about tearing it apart (yet), just some non-invasive tests. Figure out what sort of metal it's made of, test its reflexes, that sort of thing. But, I guess that can probably wait until we don't have a bunch of angry people with sharp objects chasing us."

It took Jasmine some time to collect her wits (and her air), but eventually she recovered sufficiently to take some notice of what was going on.

: "So, a fountain huh? Can't remember any others around here, just the one Kizamo built after that big war some years back."

: "Anyway, who cares about that? Clearly we need to get this golem to a lab and run some tests. I'm no expert, but if Ace here is as advanced as he appears he could push the field of golem creation forward at least a decade! Maybe more! That's gotta be worth at least as much as some old treasure."

Keyleth carefully got to her feet and staggered over to a convenient stump, sitting down upon it to check her latest injuries. Fortunately it was more painful than life-threatening.

: "If you don't mind, I'll sit out on setting up camp this time."

But I thought we were supposed to poi oh noooooo

: "Don't have to tell me twice."

C-1, abscond.

: "I just hope...that golem...knows what...it's doing. At least *wheeze* it's between us and the big guy."

I'm watching Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai from last season: "Love is War". It's about two student council members at an elite school who are in love with each other, but they're too arrogant to admit it to each other so they're constantly scheming to get each other to confess. But the series takes it to 11 as a sort of Death Note style battle-of-the-intellects with convoluted schemes and internal monologues similar to Light vs L.

As an example, here's the bit I'm up to from the episode I'm watching right now:

Okay, that is far and away better than I expected from the description. Reminds me a bit of the Ace Attorney series, only with high school maybe-romance instead of courtroom battles.

Rune goes to J-9 then performs Abelard and Lucette.
Ria goes to J-12 and attacks Spellwright C.
Abelard goes to K-10 and Hand-Axes the Lancer.
Jack goes to H-12 and attacks Spellwright C.

More moves to follow after these run.

I tried to visit my first pogrom. The first "hidden phase" went on for several minutes, filled with gunfire, explosions, and screams. When I finally regained control there was an armored car looking directly through my Airbus' windshield.

I got the hell out. My blackpowder firearms and sabers wouldn't have done much good in that situation.
