You appear to be missing a name and an Interesting Thing. Some sort of bio would not go amiss.

You might be a little frail and lacking in combat power, but being a small spider thing could provide a number of advantages. Don't write off your character just yet.

: "Ah, just call me Jazz. Most people do. So, a family of adventurers, huh? Sounds like fun." Behind her goggles, Jasmine shot a glare right back at the lady knight. "Dunno. Does sneaking around involve clanging about like a set of bells?"

I'd be a pretty lousy GM if I didn't at least get you to Level 1  :P

Level 2 on the other hand...

You need to have a certain level (depending on which lock) of lockpicking before the game lets you to pick it. If the slavers put you in a somewhat isolated cage then you can't train your lockpicking by unlocking the shackles from other prisoners because you can't reach them while you are in said cage. That leaves you with only your own shackles to train on and if you happen to unlock them on your first tries then your lockpicking will not be raised enough to then unlock the cage.

Granted this is somewhat rare but it can happen. Maybe I was just unlucky but for whatever reason the slavers wouldn't take my character out to work/move in another cage, so I was stuck for 3-4 days inside a cage, before I got bored and started over.
That's what I'm confused about. Fresh character, locked in a cage, still able to get out of the cage before the first night is out. I didn't even bother with the shackles for some time, I merely got in and out of the cage multiple times.

Something isn't matching up, here. I have found chests that were too complicated for a newbie to successfully pick, but I've never had issues with cages or prisoner poles.

I'm genuinely not sure what people are talking about, here. I've never had trouble lockpicking my way out of cages or prisoner poles, even with a brand new character. I did the Enslaved start, and my biggest challenge was figuring out how to get past the gate guards rather than escaping my bonds each night.

A sequel so clearly in view...or is it merely a trick of the light?

Probably, yes. I was kinda hoping for five but four will probably not be too much more difficult.

I think the amount of overlap in professions and backgrounds might cause a bit of difficulty (nearly everyone has martial and/or criminal origins, which while useful means that a lot of more esoteric knowledge will be hard to come by), but since a lot of paths grant additional professions y'all ought to be able to branch out a bit.

I would like the four prospective players (Kagus, IcyTea, Giglamesh, and lawastooshort) to give some thought on what sort of paths your character might pursue over the course of the campaign. You don't need to have every single thing sorted, but a general idea - even just your novice path - will allow me to get a better feel on what sort of loot should be available at what points. I don't want to, say, drop a bunch of heavy armor and two-handed weapons when everyone is planning on dedicating themselves to magecraft. Or the other way around, for that matter.

I'm planning to open the IC thread this Friday, possibly Saturday if Friday turns out to be especially busy.

Ah. Well. My mistake, then.

I still say it still doesn't look anything like the backsprite.

Double post, but I have a rather immediate matter that I need advice on.

What's the procedure when one of your dudes is enslaved? I got into a very large and very messy fight with some Dust Bandits. We won, but most of my dudes were knocked out and the ones still on their feet quite badly injured.

The problem is that we won partially thanks to a group of slave mongers that were passing by and joined in the melee. After all the Dust Bandits were down, the slave mongers began capturing anyone they could get their hands on. Including one of my own, and my remaining dudes can't hope to take the slave mongers on without getting beat up and possibly captured themselves.

So uh, what now? I've never had a slave character before.

The nightmare fuel mostly comes from the front-facing sprites, which are apparently (very very loose) fanmade interpretations. Like the "Crocky". Where the hell did those massive bug-eyes come from?

: "Right." Jasmine lowered her protective goggles and pulled a tome from her apron. It was just a basic Fire tome, nothing fancy, but for a Kizamoan mage it would be more than enough to deal with some street punks.

: "Amber, huh? So what's your story?"

1469
Amberly gestured confusedly down the alley.

: "Down that way. Some dark-haired woman in a black-and-white outfit is with Fer and Marlow, and I swear she looks fami--" Suddenly, memories of fighting just such a woman on board the Blackbones came flooding back!

: "Her! It's that bounty hunter woman! Fer, get away, she's an enemy!"
