To be fair, Curly mode (from what I remember) is basically the normal story with the roles of Curly and Quote swapped, and Curly occasionally speaks. That's it.

Don't watch, read. For the former at least, JoJo can go with both. I mean, you can watch Berserk, but that's sort of like watching the A New Hope if Empire and Jedi had never been made and they'd stopped production of the first at the point where Wedge misses his torpedo shot.

I rather like Valdis Story, m'self. Guacamelee is also quite solid. Definitely a different sort of metroidvania than the castlevania games, though. If you're looking for something that's very different, but still pretty metroidvania-ish, you might check out Waking Mars.
Cave Story is pretty Metroidvania as well.

I didn't realize that the sale watching was still going on since you said you were switching back to regular giveaways, and I was (barely) outside the $3 range anyway...so I sorta picked up Metro: Last Light on my own.
Sorry about that. Please give it to someone else who wants it (or keep it for yourself!), and I shall abstain from entering this week.
