Try restarting Steam? I noticed that sometimes Starbound won't update until you do so.

And you can't check the equip screen until you go to a mission. Point is I name the soldiers as they show up and so sometimes the name doesn't match the gender.

Yep. I don't care enough to limit names to genders, especially since the vast majority of sign-ups seem to be male and there's no way to check what gender a soldier is until they go into battle.

If any enemy besides SD3 hits me, activate Avenger's Resolve.

What about a game where you have to revive dying forum threads. You could be presented with a thread and have to write a post that gets people interested in it again. The more threads you revive, the more points you get.
It's already out there, and it's called Bay 12 Forums.
