I think I found the best way to make kobold monks viable: take Weapon Finesse. Using their natural Dex bonus instead of their massive Str penalty for all those fancy attack rolls (since natural weapons, aka the monk's entire body, are considered light) oughta help a lot.

I'm sure I'm just stating the really blindingly obvious here >.>

Thinking lycanthropy + something else. Just need to pick a good animal to transform into...maybe a monitor lizard? :P

I'm looking through that template list someone posted earlier, and quite a few don't seem to have an LA amount listed. What does that mean?

So if I wanted to be, say, half-celestial (probably not what I will pick, considering alignment), I would still have 2 LA to use on something else? As long as its not another cross-breed thing, anyway.

Sorry for asking so many questions, but my last (and only other) 3.5 character was a half-elf bard and this is all very new to me...

So, how much do kobold monks get in terms of LA? It seems like we're getting quite a few half-breeds and I'm guessing not all are monks...

((A couple of things:
1st, did you ever roll for my Wild Soul resistance? It's been at least one extended rest by now, so it needs to be rolled.
2nd, when it comes to the cold thing did you take Weston's background into account? The one that gives resist 2 cold?))

I'm completely lost when it comes to this LA stuff now o.o;

Not only that, but it looks like someone else is making a monk? Dammit, we can't have two monks running around. Back to the drawing board, I guess...

Um...you said monks get +4 LA. What is that and what does it do? :-\

Monks suck if they're wearing armor. Weapons don't seem to hinder them any, since they can make unarmed attacks (which are magical at this level and become equivalent to adamantine later) using any part of their body instead of just their hands (the only class that can do this). Said unarmed attacks can be lethal or non-lethal with no attack penalties either way.

I can see how 1st level monks can suck hard, but at this point they have lots of nifty features and bonus feats that seem to make them more viable. We'll see, though; I've never actually played a monk :P

My character is gonna be a disarm-happy Monk with a sai in one hand and a dagger in the other (for damage type options).

After Bouchart gathers the sticks and stuff, set it on fire with Explosive Pyre.

If I played, I'd probably be the cleric.
Do eeeeet. Clerics are useful and stuff, and it doesn't look like anyone has made one yet.

Could a monk equip gauntlets and still hold weapons in his hands?

Alright, calling a Kobold Monk. Looks to be crazy fun, though I have to ask: since we're at level 6, is it possible to have slightly strange weapons like nunchuku or sais?

So is this gonna be over Maptools? Roll20? Play-by-post? Something else entirely?

Play by Post. I'll put up an IC thread once everyone has a character rolled up.
Noice. Let me try to find the source I used for my last 3.5 campaign and roll something up...
