Bio: Rejected from the military, twenty-three-year-old Lyle decided to join the X-Com project. Simple, really.
Base Location: Japan
Base Name: 外国人の愚痴性交、お金を得る
Got any base names that I wouldn't need an international keyboard to type? I'm not sure the game would even accept those characters :P

Play With Your Buddies / Let's Play OpenXcom! (always recruiting)
« on: January 03, 2014, 09:23:50 pm »
((Important note: The first couple of updates ran on the original DOS version of X-COM: UFO Defense. I have since switched to OpenXcom and started over.))

"So it's confirmed then?"

"Correct, Marshall. Unexplained aircraft, missing persons, mysterious deaths...all have been reaching epidemic levels worldwide in the past year. Conventional authorities are helpless and unable to account for all these events. If things continue at this pace, it is only a matter a time before general panic shuts down every nation on Earth. We need a different solution."

"...and this is your solution? Build a secret base, gather military rejects from around the world, and throw them at the problem until something sticks?"

"You have your orders, Marshall. Good luck." *click*

"Dammit."

*ahem*
"Welcome, new recruits! I am the Marshall here. Now that you have signed the initial non-disclosure agreements, allow me to explain what you have signed on for! It is the belief of the nations of the world that Earth is under direct threat from unknown extraterrestrial forces. We believe that these forces are hostile, though we do not yet know their goals or intentions.

Thus, the free nations of the world have chosen, in secret, to create the X-COM project - the project that you are now tentatively a part of! Our mission is to figure out what these aliens have planned for our small planet and, if necessary, to combat them in the air and on the ground. Hopefully it won't come to that, but as everyone here is the *cough* best and brightest humanity has to offer,  we'll certainly give them a good showing in a fight."

"Now, we are currently taking suggestions on where to construct X-COM's initial base, and looking for a name for said base. There will be space included in your applications for this information. Welcome aboard, ladies and gentlemen!"

"Christ, these poor sons of bitches are all gonna die."

YES, its another X-COM LP! Cuz why not? Sign up and watch as you most likely die horribly on your first mission. I'm not all that great at this game, so there's sure to be a high body count. Which is, from what I can tell, the proper way to play.

Weston sighed.
"Some day I'll be able to afford such things, but not today. Thank you for your time anyway, sir dwarves."

19670
Check what sort of items the dwarves have for sale. In particular, look for minor magical items that might come in handy.

Also look for Ritual Books or Component Pouches.

19671
Weston raised a hand in a friendly wave.

"Greetings, and a fine day it is indeed! Whereabouts do you travel from?"

19672
Well, should I have Gregor stab a swordmaster or toss a javelin at Ernest?

Yataka Ishii is a goddamn badass. His very first mission, armed with nothing but a pistol? Takes down two Sectoids with accurate long-range fire and even takes a plasma shot to the chest. Unarmored! It barely fazed him! Shame I'm not keeping this playthrough :P
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Move over, Yataka. My new Badass of the Month is now Evelyn McNeil: a rookie whose very first mission was a terror attack in  a cramped, claustrophobic London. At night, even.

Evelyn proceeded to score five kills (at least one Cyberdisk) with her brand new, untested laser rifle without taking a single hit. She went straight from Rookie to Sergeant, for crying out loud! She narrowly avoided death when another rookie went berserk and started rapid-firing all over the place in the same room she was in, and at one point was face-to-face with a Sectoid, who proceeded to somehow miss and leave itself open to laser death.

Evelyn McNeil, you are a walking moment of ownage and I salute you.

Yeah, Ernest is simply too much for a gargoyle to deal with. Can he potentially kill the wounded swordmaster?

19675
Just go leeroy jenkins on him :P
I'm... actually kind of in favor of this one. Like Culise said, the choke's busted. Might as well just go for it.
Yeah, probably. Just remember to stick to ranged attacks; last thing we want is for Ernest to take down more than one person per phase with that damn murderblade of his.

19676
"Honestly, I thought you had meant to walk around without pants. Some strange dragonborn ritual or something of that nature."

Weston shamelessly bluffed.

19677
I hope I won't have to wait full week to process this turn?
Nope. You will have to wait TWO weeks!
:3

...in all fairness and seriousness you threw us a helluva curveball and I think we're still trying to figure out the best way to deal with it.

19678
@ Symon:
"Eh, I'll explain when you're older."

@ Aurel:
"Good, I prefer it that way. Not much fun in going on a quest if it's all laid out for you in the open, is it? You can't learn anything like that!"

19679
Ignores Aurel's question, instead focusing on Weston. Are you accusing me of something, Weston? I like my women just that; women. Why do you ask? I am not available, if that's what you want to know.
"No accusation at all! Young Symon here seemed confused about why you would be bringing some pretty ladies home, and I thought that perhaps you swung the other way. Now, however, I see that the cleric is even more confused than I initially thought. Poor man...

In any case, we should probably get moving soon. I'm still not altogether clear on what you lot are doing, but I'm sure it will be exciting!"
