I can get the launcher to come up and start the game, but it crashes after the Chucklefish logo. Haven't seen anything other than that yet :p

Dead units are removed from the map. I assume you mean downed characters like Jago, in which case you can pass over them but cannot occupy the same spot. This rule applies to all units, friend and foe.
