Grifen had spent the last two nights completely unable to sleep thanks to her phobia (she had covered for it by volunteering to keep watch all night), instead having vivid recollections of her worst memories. She was thus exhausted and only semi-aware of what was going on. On the bright side, Bree was starting to feel much better.

Have you considered a play-by-post format? It takes longer, sure, but time zones quickly become irrelevant because people can simply post their actions when they get on.
