While I can't speak for other LPers, Jesse and TB's incompetence is partly a refusal to read the wiki, partly deliberate, and partly from screwing each other over for the lolz.
And, to be honest, at least 35% genuine :P

Don't ask me why, but my delivery time got changed to 3 days from now, and I'm only about 100 miles away. Since I can't deliver today anyway, this gives me time to find a nice stopping place and deliver bright and early tomorrow.
