: "I...that's one way of putting it, yes. If we are looking for pre-Reckoning artifacts, then perhaps other pre-Reckoning artifacts can lead us to them. That was my logic, anyway..."

Amberly tries to translate the inscriptions.

”Sest la what?”
: "Oh, pardon. It means 'that's life'."

2388
: "And this is why you have the legal expert present when signing on the dotted line. Ah, c'est la vie."

2389
: "That, or maybe a clue of some sort. Come on in." The nun held the door open for Ashlyn, then followed the other woman inside.

: "This altar...it's incredibly ancient. These inscriptions are from a language that was used before the Reckoning, and was all but lost afterwards."

2390
: "Ah. Yes, I see the issue now."

I'm reasonably certain it doesn't count.

2392
: "Ah? What did I say?"

2393
: "Yes, I think I did! Did you happen to bring the map and that orb with you?"

Drest's sudden appearance sent Gilbert halfway through the Sign of Warding, but he retained enough presence of mind to turn the motion into a flourish as he pulled a rose from thin air.

: "Perhaps she could be persuaded to forgive with a lovely gift!"

: "...perhaps not. It was that sort of thing that led to my incineration in the first place."

2395
: "Yes, this is the truth. I am not certain that she has recognized me yet, but I shake to think of what will happen when she does."

2396
: "I am honestly not certain if partaking in a coup d'etat is worth a hundred-hundred gold pieces, but oh well. I suppose there could be worse circumstances to be in. Like a lifetime in jail."

Gazing outside, Amberly thought she saw the red-haired axewoman from the Blackbones' crew. "Ashlyn", she believed was the name. Still keeping the door open with half her body, the nun waved an arm frantically in a beckoning motion.

Generally, no.

Amberly's eyes widened at her discovery, all thoughts of saying some brief prayers before wandering off forgotten. Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but if this altar dated from before the Reckoning, and they were looking for treasures from before the Reckoning, and they had just so happened to have been led to this faraway port...

Suddenly, the nun desperately wished that she had brought someone else along. Captain Ethan - heck, the entire crew probably - should be made aware of this discovery. It could well be a vital clue to their search...but she was worried that if she left the temple, the door would seal shut behind her and they'd have to find another local to open it. Or (and this was a superstitious worry, but one she couldn't dismiss) the altar would vanish into the ether while no one was around to examine it.

Cautiously, the nun peered outside, keeping the door open with her body, and hoping against hope that another one of her party was wandering within hailing distance.

The nun examined the alter, curious about how the locals would have made the thing.
