General Discussion / Re: Dwarf Fortress Furries (2)
« on: May 15, 2013, 09:00:33 pm »
Don't forget the discussion about what would happen if we developed the technology to graft functional tails and whatnot onto people. Despite what the naysayers have repeatedly said, there hasn't been much discussion of pornography here.

Man, I'd hate for us to turn out evil. I can't even think of a reason for it to happen to us, like if we were to we start out as well-intentioned extremists that get progressively worse. We're a bunch of mostly-good-at-heart soldiers and mercenaries just trying to earn a living and are more than eager to be rid of this current job.

Related.

Your familiar, it defies explanation.
Bahahahaha! Now I'm half-tempted to retcon Honor as cyan instead of golden-brown. I won't, though.

Hey, we aren't doing that IC. OOC, it's pure business and we're trying to maximize our loot and EXP gains to better survive the next horror Haspen throws at us.
I think he will throw worse ones for killing those two, just saying.
Well, apparently "surrender" isn't a word in the Berebian language. If we kill them, Haspen gives us greater challenges as a punishment. We let them go, we lose the rewards and possibly won't gain another level. We can't win -v(O_o)v-

Weston watched the developing argument with interest. It was difficult to tell from here, but if the slurred speech was anything to go by someone tried and failed to steal from a drunk guy. Weston could sympathize with the pickpocket - he'd been in that situation once or twice! - but it didn't look like it'd be wise to get involved. Nevertheless, he moved closer to the drunk and the shady guy, without saying anything.

What does ISG stand for, anyway?

^^^^
Major reason I don't play many suggestion games.

You're a smart lizard, Mr. White.

Quote from: Somebody on facebook.

So basically I should talk to you during the day, because you are just as intelligent, just a little less pretentious?  :P
Respond with the story about how the puddle found a hole in the ground that fit it perfectly.

Also, thanks to Haspen and FEF in general for game mechanics ideas for the forum game I developed on paper while I was gone. I'll type it up tonight if I don't keel over.

ISG or...?

Tactical RPG like this. I probably won't have time to spend hours and hours on updating an ISG soon.

I kinda wanna call dibs on a spot.

Welcome back, FFS!

Familiars are very different in 4e. They can't attack and have only 1HP, but gain the defenses and skills of the owner and are essentially immortal (being "killed" simply makes them disappear, and they reappear after a short rest). They can also have obviously supernatural appearances (thus Honor's eyes and the mark on her head), though not to the point where, say, an owl suddenly sprouts several arms and two long legs.

Not according to the rulebook:
Quote
Communication: You and your familiar can speak to one another in a special arcane language. Other creatures hear only gibberish from you, and grunts and squeaks from your familiar. Your familiar doesn't understand other languages, but can parrot back what it hears, allowing you to understand anything it repeats back to you in a language you know.
I can accept familiars being unable to use human speech, but the idea that an intelligent magical creature simply can't understand any language is a little ludicrous.

That's fine. I wasn't planning to have my familiar talk when near other people anyway. I just figured being able to communicate with it directly in Common would allow me to give orders to it without having to then explain to the rest of the party what I'm having it do. It would also allow others to communicate with it, which might come in handy.
