You get Multiball by hitting Gendo twice (for Clone Capture 2 of 2) and then activate any of the four main girl's special.

Twice. It's goddamned hard, since it requires not only a precisely timed hit, on a character who rarely appears.

(although I have to admit, if Misha appears once, she'll very likely appear a few times in short succession for a while.)

Extra life(aka Rin Bin): Not sure how to start the Rin timer(I've seen it light up hitting Mutou, Hanako, Yuuko, Kenji, and possibly Shizune), but hitting Rin with it active will give you an extra life(plus the achievement for the first time). With an extra life, if you hit non-special Shizune(unsure if rolling to a stop, but likely), instead of losing, you'll launched pretty far. Rin Binning with an extra life does nothing(except the achievment for that). Activating the timer(however that is) again while it's already lit will increase the time.

Panic Mode: Hit Hanako. She'll block the next person you hit. About every 100m, though, Misha will appear instead, and omnom you. Hit Misha like this triggers Ultimate Drill Works.

Pig jumps: Hit Yuuko to gain two pigs(can accumulate). Hitting the ground will consume one, but bounce you higher(faster?) rather than slowing you down. Hitting Mutou will take all of your remaining pigs, but will accelerate you rather than slowing down.

Hideaki: Launch vertically. Reaching the top of the screean will summon Hideaki, who will alter your trajectory similar to Kenji. Hitting Kenji at a very horizontal angle can cause this. The first time I hit Hideaki, I then hit Kenji, who launched me right back into Hideaki.

Skill shot: Have launch angle close(does not need to be exact, even for the achievement) and a power close to 100%(may need to be exact for the achievement). First time hitting the ground and not a character, Misha will launch you.

Wahahas: Getting nommed, UDW, or just hitting Misha normally will give you Wahahas. UDW gives you two.

Shizune's special: Lights up not only hitting any of the main girls(including Shizune herself), but pretty much any female character. Confirmed with Yuuko and that one special guest that says "Does Not Want".

Jack Webber - the Honor Harrington series - Horatio Hornblower in space (that's actually a pretty good series too - not quite as rich as Master&Commander but HH (by CS Forester) and Bolitho (by Alexander Kent) used to be the 2 "go to" series for Napoleonic naval war fiction).  Anyway, Webber is not nearly as good a writer as any of the above, some fairly contrived stuff, but it's still among the best military SF and is great to get inspired to fire up something like Aurora (mechanics based REALLY heavily on Webber's Starfire series).
