Or, you know, captialism could get in on the act and sell ready grated cheese. Oh, wait, it has been doing that for years and you dont need the middle bit done manually at home any more? Oh joy!

That, my friend, is blasphemy. Freshly grated cheese is obviously superior to cheese grated in a factory and left to dry for amounts of time unknown until you actually purchased it. Please head to the torture chamber ultrafuntime room for compulsory repenting.
Well, of course it's superior. Sometimes however, convenience wins out.

-snip, failed.-

You can try to hide your shame all you want... But we know.

We know.

Dat mistranslated negative.
The shame.
Disgrace.
I knew what it was going to be before I clicked the link.
Same. And I only saw that movie once, at least eight years ago.

You rang?

Actually I couldn't care less anymore. Getting an official warning has a way of making you re-think priorities...

There's also hand-crank cheese graters, where you put the cheese in a cylinder and twist it, grating the cheese against a grater-wall on the bottom. Prevents finger-shredding and gets all the cheese out, instead of leaving an incher heel.
I've seen things like that in restaurants, usually in Italian places where they offer Parmesan to put on your salad or pasta. Problem is I don't think it works well with softer cheeses like mozzarella or jack cheeses.

Yes but why don't we have BETTER cheese graters? Why is it that doing it by hand is still the best?

We have automatic can openers.

With all our knowledge and know how we cannot grate cheese any better then the 60s.
Google is a wonderful tool.

If you were to find my home planet (good luck! It's in a self-sustaining spatial anomaly and nearly undetectable from the outside), you'd notice that it is now guarded by fleets of wood-and-sail starships that wield moon-destroying magical firepower. That quantum crystal mine I uncovered really gave my research a boost!

I'm starting to think that this topic has been pretty badly derailed <_<;

Idle speculation time! Will waterfalls only be randomly generated or will it be possible to create our own?

Mostly because religion devolves threads into headaches and bans. Almost inevitably. And I like you guys! Don't get banned!

and i wanna talk about songs and happy sads and canadas D:
Okay yeah.
So about that Canada...
What's up with that? I've always wondered how Canada and the US were different.
Anybody who has been to both places here who could inform me?
Canada is colder. They say "eh" a lot and eat nothing but moose. The hair of Canadians turns white in the winter for better camouflage.

These may or may not be true.

Yeah, this.

C'mon, how many religion threads have we had? And how many have devolved into flame wars and eventual locks?

The guy I'm dating is back from AUS safely. He called me, and even though I missed his trial (tried to call him and left him a text message) it's nice to be thought of.
That's what I read at first, leading to a hilarious double-take as I tried to imagine what he could have done in Australia to go on trial as soon as he got back :P

In some of the Star Wars books set after the movies, Republic fighter squadrons use mass torpedo attacks against the dome on the top of capital ships that generate their shields. Capital ships are armed with things called 'turbolasers' that are mostly designed as anti-capital ships, but that will vaporize a fighter through it's own shields, if that fighter had them.
This also happened in Return of the Jedi, as seen here.

(please excuse the horrendous quality. It was pretty much the best one I could find :P )

If a game is overly 'padded' with unfun content then it won't actually be fun and I'll stop playing it. I've always done this. Sometimes I only enjoy the first few hours of a game, then hit a section of grindy or boring content so I stop playing.

Then the trick is to make it not so fun as to get bored with it, but so barely not unfun as so you keep playing.

As well remember the conditions
1) The game must be fun
2) The measure of how fun the game was is time

Thus if the game has a lot of padding but is still overall fun... then it will, to your metric, be more fun then a game that was a blast but only lasted 10 hours.

Which is why it is important when measuring Terraria... Was it 10 hours of fun spread over 200? or was it 200 hours of fun?
Again, this question is only meaningful for people who play while not having fun. If you are only playing while you are enjoying the game, there is no distinction. Time played = time having fun. I enjoy Terraria. I enjoy mining resources, I like crafting equipment, I like the sense of progress from upgrading things, i like designing and building new things. There is no part of Terraria I did not enjoy. When I stopped having fun due to repetition or grind or whatever, I stopped playing and came back later when I was in the mood and found it enjoyable again.

So again, why would you play a game (a product designed to entertain you) if you are not actually entertained? This is like watching a movie which you think is terrible. Why would you continue to watch the movie? In the vague hope that it would suddenly become good? I do the same thing with movies... if I don't like them I stop watching or I leave. I've walked out on movies before in the theatre, or shut them off midway through at home.
To be fair, there are times when it's fun to watch a terrible movie or play a terrible game. You have to be in the proper mood for it though.

This happens to probably 95% of the MMOs I've played.

Transition to WAFFLE-1897FB successful! Mostly, anyway. Some of the penguin eggs didn't survive the journey, and about half of my djinn contingent detected some sort of interdimensional beast that they went tearing off to fight, but I managed to load up all of my alchemy equipment and most of my spell components! That'll make starting over much easier.
