Gandalf also has a sword. I can't speak for the rest, because I don't know them :P

And recreational shooting. There's something about the kick of a handgun.
This is my only experience with guns so far. Don't knock it until you try it, it's actually quite fun and can be done as safely as any sort of recreational activity.

Wait...dammit Me, stop posting in the politics thread!

Oh, you all know what needs to exist? A hacked version of Pokemon with a 40K theme, at least for the starter.

"Carnifex, I choose you!"
Which evolutionary step would Carnifex be? And what would the other steps be?

Fine, fine. Now I'm gonna get out of here before I get embroiled in the next flame war :P

You're a good man/woman/person/thing/geometric object, Orb. I don't want anything on the list, but you deserve kudos :)

Suddenly, a wild Warhammer 40k derail appears!
Use Master Ball?
Y/N
Can't. We're on a Nuzlocke run and we've already caught one derail this route.

I'm sorry for saying this a lot, but SOURCE PLEASE. I can't even see a signature so I can look for it myself :(
I thought about including a source (since I figured someone would ask), but I decided to be evil and make people ask MUHAHAHA.   :P
Here is a link to the artists deviantart account. The picture is the most recent one on his page, and he has ~100 other amazing sci-fi desktop images.
I'll go check it out...as soon as I re-attach my jaw...

Actually, Hans is correct.

The primary issue is handguns, which have no purpose beyond shooting other human beings. You don't hunt with a pistol. You don't fend off predators with a pistol.
Admitiddely not the most unbiased source, but this disagrees. The short of it is that they can be used to hunt rabbits or small game for wilderness eating, especially if your long gun is designed to bring down much larger animals. Or they're "emergency weapons" if the hunter suddenly becomes the hunted.

Now, you could argue that a large number of them are clearly not designed for concealed carry or anything like that, but saying that handguns are ONLY for shooting people is clearly wrong.

NASA is Merlin? That whole Curiosity Delivery System definitely reeks of AWizardDidIt.

That's true, I believe I might remember such instances now myself. I stand corrected. But a lasgun shot to the chest, stomach, head, or neck will still probably kill you dead.
A blaster shot would probably do the same thing :P

But yeah, overall edge to the IG.

Plus, you know, you're not gonna know ahead of time if you get into some sort of emergency. Like

Just a note, blaster rifles are also capable of rapid fire. However, they aren't typically used in that fashion because the accuracy of the person firing it (usually Stormtroopers in the movies) degrades even further.

Besides, lore-wise lasguns can also vary in power. I've read novels of people taking a shot - unarmored - and living through it in most cases.
