Do what I do:
Don't worry about any IVs or EVs except Eevee :P

Seriously, unless you have a burning desire to be competitive, just enjoy training the Pokemon you get.

I'm here to shamelessly plug my LP :P
It is pretty great (link). A Nuzlocke run of randomized Emerald has all sorts of potential.

Also, I've seen a few Pokemon MMOs and another 3D attempt, but something in Minecraft is interesting. I'll have to take a look.
Er...I'm fairly certain the 3D thing I linked has nothing to do with Minecraft :P

But hey, thanks for the support!

Part 7: Reunion

"Petalburg City Pokemon Gym
Leader: Norman - 'A Man in Pursuit of Power!'"
...

I stepped through the front doors and came face-to-face with a man I hadn't seen in some time. He looked at me quizzically for a second, and then recognition lit up his face.
"Ing? Ing, is that you?"

I grinned. "Hi, Dad."
I stepped forward and gave him a brief hug, which he returned awkwardly.  Then he pushed himself away with a laugh. "So son, I guess you're here for the gym challenge? May I see your Pokemon?"

I gave an inward sigh - I just wanted to see him, not battle! - but showed him all of my new friends anyway. Dad took his time examining them, a frown on his face. "Ing, you can't be serious. These Pokemon...they're all too weak! They wouldn't last five minutes in my gym!"

Well, my Pokemon were pretty upset at that, especially Champ, but Dad wasn't finished yet. "I thought I taught you better than this! You shouldn't be wasting time on weaklings when there's a whole world of powerful Pokemon out there!"

Thankfully, I was spared further tongue-lashing by a hesitant knock on the door. A gangly kid poked his head inside, looked around, and walked towards Dad. In a thin voice, he asked Dad if he could help catch a Pokemon to be his friend. Dad apparently knew the kid - Wally was his name - and told me to go along with him as back-up. I left the gym with Wally, grateful to get away.

Using Dad's Zigzagoon (which he must keep around just for such purposes), Wally managed to capture something called a Ralts. The look of joy on Wally's face made me smile, for it reminded me of when I met Champ for the first time. We returned to the gym, the kid beaming all the way and even making Dad lose his serious expression for a moment. After profusely thanking the both of us, Wally left.

I braced myself for another lecture, but I did not expect the next words to come out of his mouth.
"If you really want to challenge me...come back once you have four Gym Badges. Only then will you be strong enough to face my Pokemon. Start with Roxanne in Rustboro City. After that, you're on your own. And don't you dare come back before you're done."

Not trusting my voice to remain steady, I simply nodded and walked out.

The Church seems to be kicking and screaming the entire way.
That was never really a surprise to anyone.
Well, no. But it means that, if the Church of England is anything like the churches here in the States, they'll probably be throwing all the money and political power around that they can, which at best will delay the outcome and at worst may very well stop it completely.

As of today, gay people can get married in England and Wales.

In other news, the Thames appears to have taken on a deep reddish hue and there is an incessant croaking sound to be heard throughout the British Isles.
Oh, that went through?
Good. I haven't been able to watch the news all day because my cable connection was out; so no internet or television.

Nice to see that once again reason has won out against bigoted old people.
From what I heard in the Progressive thread, it's not over yet. The resolution needs to be passed a few more times, and the Church seems to be kicking and screaming the entire way.

People, I don't know about you, but derailing a thread then having an argument about that derail isn't good for having a thread stay open, and I want this thread to stay open.
A million times this.

Ohhh. I thought MSH was laughing at the video itself, which I presumed to be hilarious.

Also wondering how many people have seen this. It's like the closest thing you'll find to 3D Pokemon until X and Y come out, and it's multiplayer.

Forgiveness and darkness?  How'd those two get paired together.
Well, isn't it obvious? Only by examining the innermost, darkest places in our hearts and minds can we find true forgiveness. It's easy to say "no big deal" reflexively, but it takes a lot of soul-searching to look the ones who wronged us in the eyes and say "I forgive you".

Sorry, that was my Nesteth half speaking :P
Holy crap, I'm basically a philosopher hippy. That's awesome.

General Discussion / Re: The Dream Thread
« on: February 05, 2013, 11:36:59 am »
Here's a good one. I remember it because, so far as I can tell, I spent the entire night in this one dream, not waking up once. This is highly unusual for me.

Anyway, in my dream I was being contacted by a variety of unimaginably ancient spirits. They all wanted to conscript me to work against the plans of the others, and I was essentially a pawn for all sides. If I tried to ignore the demands of one, it ended up furthering the plans of another. If I instead tried to help the one making the demands, I might help that one, or I might help an entirely different one. Or both. Or more. It was all extremely complex and I don't think even my dream self understood more than the tiniest fraction of it.

The dream ended when my alarm went off.

Someone in my apartment keeps on trying to feed the TV remote to the recliner with his ass, and I mean that quite literally. Just another reason why I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
I think I'd just take to changing the channel manually. Just sayin'.  :-\
You can't do that with Comcast.
Do you have the tiny ~70-channel receivers? Those are the only ones I know of that don't have buttons on the front, though it's been a couple of years.

Yep, pretty much. Things that don't matter, but you might think would:

* Successive Pokeballs. When I was young, I always thought that throwing a lot of balls in a row 'weakened' the target. Nope - assuming no damage is dealt, the first ball is just as strong as the last.
Mind = blown.

Well, someone wanted crappy Paint images. Here you go!
Spoiler: The Team (click to show/hide)
Let me head off most of the criticism at the pass by agreeing that yes, the proportions are probably all terrible, there's no shading, and I've clearly never heard of perspective. It's crappy Paint work, what do you expect? :P

That said, I had fun with this one. I have never drawn any of these 'mons before, but I think they turned out alright. I think Genji turned out the best, while Nina was the hardest to draw.
