That was basically my impression.

Good
DEAR GOD THE HAIR ANIMATION
Actually, it was just plain amazing-looking in general.
The initial plotline was actually interesting.

Bad
Most everything after the cabin in the woods, personally.

A belated +1 for Reccetear.

Now if only the Civ IV set would go on a flash sale...

After struggling with the most unintuitive control scheme I ever saw, I started a new game. First attempted to throw a crate at a guard. Crate passed through the guard and he didn't notice anything. I switched to my blackjack and thwacked him multiple times in the head (crouched from behind, so he couldn't hear or see me). He staggered, then ran off for help which never showed up. I just stood there, wondering why everyone recommended this.

I suggest a rule (in large, bolded letters) in the OP that states that you MUST give the name of what game you're discussing ;)

Currently I'm trying to force my way across a bridge, but with two Mg42s and a freaking tank watching the other end, I can't quite make it. Currently on attempt #6.

P.S. you should all check out overgrowth as well!
We do have an Overgrowth thread somewhere in this forum, but it kinda died. Which is a shame, considering that it's still under development :P

By the way everyone, the game is 100% free and totally open-source. You can make your own games!

Eh, hippie movement at least made some strides. You'll note the whole "green food" movement that seems to stem from hippie culture.

But the way I see it, if you pirate a game to play it, you're still telling the developers of that game that you enjoy their products. Their response is to make more of the same stuff, while instituting more draconian measures to try and prevent more pirating. Eventually, you'll get to a point where it simply isn't worth the effort to pirate, and then what? Will you break down to buy the game, or go without? Either way, DRM technology will have grown hugely in that time frame.

Any opinions on Future Wars http://store.steampowered.com/app/46440/ or Bunch of Heroes http://store.steampowered.com/app/111400/ by any chance?
I'm passing on both. Future Wars may have Advance Wars-style gameplay, but I don't see any sign of quirky characters or fun powers to use. Since those are a huge part of why I enjoy the AW series...

Bunch of Heroes is a "twin-stick shooter", and I've never been fond of those.

I often see piracy as preferable to endorsing the current system.

^ This. To me, it's not about what I can get for free. It's about changing an unfair system. By simply abiding by and using the system in place, I put my name behind it. It's sort of the old hippie argument, I'm just not expecting government handouts.  ;)
I've heard this argument a dozen times before, and frankly I don't buy it. You're not going to be changing any established systems by not participating. You need to make life more difficult for the companies doing stuff that you don't want them to do. And no, sending angry emails doesn't really count. Boycotting might work, especially if done in real life. Direct people who buy games from those companies to information about their unsavory practices.

Also, while EA is indeed terrible, I'm surprised people aren't more scared of Valve. EA's more or less harmless, since nobody would trust them to do anything big. However, the fact that Valve was able to pull off what is essentially their Origin, and still keep the fanboy hordes intact and growing, is quite frankly terrifying.

Steam offers an extremely wide variety of games (not just Valve games) in a convenient, easy-to-use manner. They go on sale very often, meaning it is easy to get good prices on games you want. Valve makes extremely good games, such as Half-Life and Team Fortress 2. Also, they don't mine data from your computer.
Plus they've been in service for quite some time and offer decent customer support, not to mention the player community that can be very helpful at times.

[personal view]
Even if there is no physical copy of a lot of games out there, piracy is still theft in a way. Making that bit of code in the first place took time, effort, hardware (assuming they didn't have the proper hardware in the first place), and money. Making money off of that code is the only way for the programmers/artists/sound designers/whatever to recoup the money spent. By pirating, you deprive the creators of what could be thought of as their salary. This applies mostly to AAA titles, but some indie games are pirated as well, and they rely more on the profits their game makes.
[/personal view]

That said, I admit to pirating some things. Mostly abandonware that won't make their creators money anymore. Some older console games as well; those memory-saving batteries in those old cartridges won't last forever. In fact, I even have some cartridges that can no longer save thanks to a dead battery that no one can replace.

Unless your a female, in which case it's the Electra complex.

Maybe, you could want to try new things like incest, patricide and homosexuality?
Male. And no.
