Now, that's something I've never seen a satisfactory answer to in any zombie media. We've got helicopters and bombs and the like. Hell, we could probably anchor a blimp close to the ground and have a drunken shooting spree. You could literally cut a zombie in half with a gatling gun and it would still just keep coming towards you.

This. So much this.I think ya'll are missing the point. Cities are full of PEOPLE, which generally get TURNED INTO ZOMBIES in this sort of event. MILLIONS OF ZOMBIES. Instead of two hundred or whatever in Podunk, Middleofnowhere.
Not to mention, people can be far more dangerous than zombies. Bandits, and other assorted nasty people who don't want to share resources after the end, would be far more dangerous than zombies.Peoplezombies who will either search for fresh food after they num on everything in the city, or will osmose(diffuse) out iof the city naturally.

City has the least amount of dangerous organisms likely to be zombified, plenty of defensible structures, and the security forces to easily contain a zombie threat.ZSG doesn't go by Resident Evil rules of Everything Can Be A Zombie. Just humans. Zombie flesh is extremely toxic and filled with the virus. So cities are terribad for surviving.

Not really. Cities have places for you to shelter. Freezing to death out in the woods or getting mauled by wild animals isn't much different from getting eaten by a zombie.Wild animals can be scared off and don't outnumber you by potentially millions. Plus you can't eat the zombies you kill. I'd rather live in the wilderness.
