what if all the mundane weapons, aircraft, and structures are subsidized by world governments? While super advanced medkits and reversed engineered alien weapons cost a bit more?
Don't we build our own aircraft though? Or maybe we do order them, evidenced by the United States country bonus.
I'm pretty sure we order interceptors.

Does this still require a monitor that handle screen resolutions of greater than 1082x784? Because that's what's been keeping me from playing this.
*points to sig

I run it on 1024x768.
Akura probably wants to run it as-is, not while fiddling with windows that weren't designed to be resized. ResizeEnable works, for the most part, but it can cause an already-clunky game to become even more clunky.

There is nothing intuitively realistic about the Simoleon prices in the strategic layer, they're all really nonsensical for the sake of balance.

please expand on this, I don't recall old xcom prices apart from having a couple stuff at really stupid high. what do you mean by nonsensical?

I would assume he means it costs slightly more than $40 to build an advanced futuristic fighter jet.

 :)
Well yeah, but we aren't exactly using dollars here :P

Bah, Maxine was the only one who didn't promote :(

It'll probably happen next time! And at least no-one seems to have been injured.
The first 3 missions are the easiest things ever.  It starts ramping up after that.  And... she was already the highest ranking one in the mix.
Oh, right. I thought everyone else was already a squaddie :P

Revisions and expansions! A variant on Mordenkainen's Disjunction that is less overpowered and underpowered!
...wut?

@ dhokarena56: I'm guessing the whole "in a relationship with a fictional character" thing is part of it.

Happies! The whole family went to see a comedy show earlier this evening. Three of the four comedians were hilarious; the non-funny one just kept talking about how big his junk was. Still a good time.

...There's only five total options. How in the world do you screw that event up ten times?
Forgetting which options you chose the previous times? I only got that event maybe once every ten games, so I'd often forget :P

Nations will sometimes contact you and ask if you would please sell them laser weapons (I've never seen them ask for plasma). I think that's about it, though.

Semi-ninja by Tarran.

Spoiler: Socks (click to show/hide)

He's Scottish.  As if the name "Wallace" wasn't a dead enough giveaway, that is...

So, two Brits and a Scotsman.  Biased are we?
Heeey. If I were biased, I'd make the entire squad American, thank you very much :P

They already are.
Just the voices, and you can turn those off.

Looks like a fine bunch of rubes, if you ask me. Perfect for saving the planet!

IronyOwl, if it's not too much trouble, could you shrink the images down for future updates? You can use this code:
Code: [Select]
[img width=(number in pixels)](image URL here)[/img]
and the height will adjust to match.

Because the Etherials don't have a body exactly. They don't have nerves or muscles to overwhelm.

They are the equivilant of a Forcefield generator projecting a humanoid form.
No ethereals definitely have a physical body, you might be thinking about an outsider though

It is definately the one that stuns

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Which is the Etherial.
Noooo, I'm pretty sure the one that turns into a crystal is the Outsider. I have an Ethereal corpse being dissected right now.

Speaking of, the mission went fine. I accidentally killed the Ethereal with a flushing shot (it critted on a 10% chance, damn it), but we took no losses.
What you are thinking of most definitely is an outsider, aka early ships captains and/or the crystal guys.  Considering the mission to capture one is called 'Capture an Outsider'.  For that matter CAN you stun etherials?  They seem so op that they might not be stunnable.

Also can you stun crysalids?
Yes to both. It's difficult and might require the advanced arc thrower, but it's entirely possible.

So for a change of direction, how does everyone customize their squads? For me, I do it by rank:
  • Rookies get a red-tinted armor...that's it.
  • Squaddies go back to the default armor color.
  • Corporals get a custom armor color.
  • Sergeants get their nickname, and I usually change it based on their job/nationality/whatever I feel like.
  • Next rank up gets to use the second armor pattern.
  • From then on, not much happens until they get to Colonel. Once that happens, they get a helmet.
