Spraycans are not exactly guns? Unless there is a specific long range variant that I'm not aware of. Hell, I have an anesthetic/antibiotic spray on my table here.Medicine has been administered that way before, and it's not too much of a stretch that we can make a spray that heals fast-ish (we already grow simple organs in jars).

A Spray that as long as you use it in the general dirrection of the target heals them however is what I call a medicine gun.

It would certainly a fantastic invention in real life.
We HAVE stuff like that in real life. Not the kind where your invisible health bar regains some points, no, but antibacterial and antiseptic sprays have been around for quite some time. It's no more fantastic than first-aid kits in every other game and has the same range as the medical kits in the original X-COM.

Well, since I stupidly lost my dual-Mantis boarding part earlier, I was kinda out of them :P

Would you believe that the Orange Juice missed out on TWO chances to unlock new ships during it's unlucky run?

It found the start of the Engi Homeworld quest, but couldn't start it because no Engi crew.
It also found that Mantis pirate with the long and unpronounceable name, but I couldn't remember how that one was supposed to work. I never saw any blue text options and I had no boarding party or ion weapons, so I was forced to blow them out of the sky.

Only five more days. I think I can resist spoiling myself now that it's so close :P

30605
Sounds like it could have gone a whole lot worse, though. Maybe she likes the cold? :P

mainiac wins the debates. He is the presidential debate champion
Are ya kidding? He's being less coherent than Lord Inquisitor, and that's no easy feat -___-;

And so the adventure of the USS Orange Juice came to an end. I figured I was doomed anyway; I had incredibly bad luck and only ever found one store that sold weapons (and had very little scrap thanks to constant repairs) and only ever found a Heavy Laser I. Only two of my crew were the ones I started with, everyone else who was remotely good died. About the only thing going for me was the Weapon Pre-Igniter. It wasn't near enough.

((Or do they? Perhaps they were just flying along with the last bunch that got blown up ;) ))
((As far as power requirements go, you should be able to use both ECM and the screen for now, as Great has nearly-full capacitors. The screen does take a lot more power, so it's really only used in combat while ECM can be used more-or-less continuously. ))

T+ 000:20:57:298

Were you a being of flesh and blood, you would likely be dead already. Since you are not so limited however, your BatComp screams back to life as you raise the screens once more. You also feed power into your ECM systems, and static blazes across the frequencies.

The ECM works even better than you had hoped, as three of the missiles outright detonate midflight, confused into triggering their airburst modes. Another four go spiraling out of control, locking on to phantom targets (5). The other seven missiles continue towards you, and point-defense clusters spit forth their deadly projectiles.

It is not enough. The range is too short, and not a single missile is hit (1). The seven slam into your battle screen, which thankfully holds (5). These were also air-to-air missiles, which implies that these craft were already in the air when battle was joined. In some ways this is good, as even without your screen such light weapons would be a minor annoyance at best. On the other hand, their low approach means that they were aware of what happened to the last skimmer wing...and the time between engagements offers a probability greater than 92.335% that they reported back to a superior.

The skimmers break to the left and right, presumably hoping to get around to your other side. During this time, they are extra vulnerable to attack, despite spreading out. You decide to hail them, see if perhaps this was all a hideous misunderstanding. Your only response is a strange, chittering noise interspersed with what sounds like a severe cough (5). Whatever these things are, they aren't human, and as they loop around for a second attack run it becomes clear that they don't want to talk things out.

With grim determination, your repeaters fire once more. This time, your aim is perfect, and all seven skimmers burst into flames almost simultaneously (5). It's time to get out of here, before more capable reinforcements show up. Only question is, where do you go?

A) The group of humans
B) One of the ruined cities, to seek shelter
C) Try to track down where the skimmers came from
D) Other

I had to shoot out the medical bay, or else they would have just run back for heals <_<

I hit it with a heavy laser, too...that's probably what started the fire.

Lucky cannonball killed my general. First death of the engagement.

Empire Total War
Reminds me of my first death in Rome: Total War (years and years ago, mind). Sent my badass general forward, told the onagers to fire flaming rounds at the enemy. Roughly ten seconds after orders were sent...
CUTSCENE
OUR GENERAL HAS BEEN KILLED!
I managed to kill my own general with a horribly unlucky shot from my own catapult :P

Slugs contact me with a surrender. I say, "sure, gimme your stuff". Battle music ends...and then the slug ship spontaneously explodes, taking my Mantis along with it  :'(

Was the ship on fire by any chance?
Must have been, but I couldn't tell because of the nebula. Other than the loss of a crew member, the exact same thing happened later.

Neonivek, I've been following this thread on and off for a while now, and I feel that you probably just don't want to play the game or give it a chance. You hate literally everything about it. Maybe it would be for the best if you stepped out of it until the title is released, so you can back up your arguments by presenting the final product.
Neonivek can get a bit hyperbolic and sometimes repeats the same points, but I must acknowledge that he's the only thing keeping this thread from turning into a circlejerk (which we can certainly have after the game is released, provided it lives up to expectations).
Repeats the same points after they've already been refuted, yes. Either that or makes vague predictions about how terrible it will be because it isn't being handed down from Heaven on an adamantine platter. That's where things get irritating.

That never bothered me, to be honest. Not every villain needs to have his or her backstory told through a lengthy sequence of flashbacks. Slade had a very mysterious air about him, and even when the Titans foiled his plot of the week you always got the impression that it didn't affect his long-term plans much.

I really think they should introduce Slade in the comic book world. He'd make a great arch-nemesis.
