There probably are plenty of such people everywhere. This place is just highly accepting of it; other places you'd have people getting all pissed that people are being "flamboyant" or somesuch just for mentioning they're gay, so people stay in the closet unless they have to leave.
This, basically. I've lost track of the number of people here who turn out to be "x-sexual" and receive support. Speaks well about the community.

I admit that I've grown to like the fancy in the newer OS's. Or at least, I've gotten so used to it that when certain programs disable the fancy, it kinda throws me for a loop. Haven't noticed any real loss of functionality either, other than the lack of an easy Run command on the start menu.

But still. They have about 10 other LOTR characters there; why no Gandalf?
Sounds to me like they have too many LoTR characters anyway. The trope pantheon needs more variety!

I got approximately 5 Mbps, up and down.

Somebody finally speaks about the courage that Romney showed in '68.

(In case anyone is wondering in '68 Obama dodged service on the grounds that he was 7 years old.)
It's a wonder he survived. Poor guy must have PTSD from his ordeal.

I sure didn't know, so I'm also gonna give Romney the benefit of the doubt. I've heard that phrase bandied about plenty of times before.

Hanslanda, have you constructed an altar for your modem?

It menaces with spikes of optical fiber!
You want spikes? Try the little metal threads in cable lines. I've got more than a few of those embedded in my thumbs  :-\

If that's 99% better, than who's the 1%?

Me. I tried to get that thing to measure my internet, and the screen just blanked out. After a few minutes, text appeared. It said, "Congratulations, your computer has been selected to join the NSA. Agents will be by shortly to collect it and compensate you fairly." I am now typing this on my phone. :P
Why would they requisition your computer? Shouldn't they take over the ISP instead?
Yes, I am completely missing the point :p

Is there any real reason to switch to Windows 8? Hell, I'd still be on my XP laptop if it didn't die, and the family desktop still uses Vista (which I never really understood the hate for, but whatever).
No there is absolutely no damn reason unless you have a touchscreen or a tablet.
Well, there's a relief. I just know some people will always get the newest OS, even if they don't like parts of it.

Some local pro-life group sometimes likes to set up shop at my college. I'm pretty sure I mentioned them once before, the ones who outright tell women that they don't get a say in their own pregnancies.

I can't tell how much memory my Intel chipset has. That probably means it's low D:
(budget laptop for around $250)
