Basically, you customize a space ship and take part in team deathmatch while capturing points and trying to destroy the enemy base. Teamwork is basically required, matches can drag on quite a bit, and the servers keep track of how often you quit in the middle of a match. The community was pretty small last I played, and I don't think it's gotten much bigger.

I had my first salt-and-vinegar-flavored chip today. How do people eat that stuff?!

Yeah, I always tend to go with "whatever is aesthetically pleasing to me/has proven itself to me" in my teams. Probably why I've never been competitive in Pokemon or Magic or whatever :P

Anyone catch women's basketball? Croatia (their first women's basketball team, apparently) went up against the US's team (four-time gold medalists, if I remember correctly) and were very close until the final quarter, when the Americans started dominating. Honestly, a few times I thought Croatia might win.

Was playing an online game this evening, and someone shows up in global chat going on about..something or other. Apparently there is air in space and sound. He also claimed to be a "meteologist" and when pressed for evidence about his claims (proved in the 1950s, IIRC), either grew evasive and started going on about trees falling in the middle of the forest or told us to "look it up". Not sure if troll or raving lunatic.

I have to wait until tomorrow to watch all of the stuff I really wanted to see (fencing, archery, etc); NBC pretty much just showed swimming, volleyball, and some gymnastics. Thankfully, my cable provider is supposed to have footage from every event ready for on demand access the day after.

Admittedly, the countryside bit was a little dull, but I enjoyed pretty much all of the Industrial Revolution. The music was more intense, those smokestacks rose forever, and of course the top-hat guys were fun to watch. I wonder if TotalBiscuit was out there :P

Solidly crushed my fellow poker players, winning Sasha in the process.

I got to watch part of it. I enjoyed it, parents thought it was stupid and switched to HGTV.  :-\

Thankfully, it was recorded, so I can watch the rest some other time. I'm really looking forward to seeing the outfits all the different countries were wearing, and listening to Sir Paul McCartney!

Tried to play this for the first time today. Followed the tutorial with the weird little guy with a bad mustache, went back to single player, saw that playing as Germany would put me in control of just the military, letting the AI take care of everything else. I think "Hey, this must be the easy difficulty, letting me focus on combat and stuff".

Poland started kicking my ass all over the place. I can't help but think there should have been some tutorials on how to move your troops and other such important, basic things. :(

That reminds me: I'm sure that there would be a spectacular opening ceremony if North Korea hosted the olympics.

It would be run by the tears and slave labor of tens of thousands of children, but it would be spectacular nonetheless >_>
Not as spectacular as they would have been under Kim Jong Il. That whole part where the audience holds up different cards to make the stadium change between Glorious Leader's smiling face and Nyan Cat? Breathtaking.
What.

It's definitely an interesting contrast :P

My mistake, then.

Suddenly, to the rescue! An army of Mary Poppinses.

???

Also, I find it amusing that here in Australia I get live footage, but you poor Americans don't. :o Weird.
They're still upset about that whole 1776-1781 thing.  :P

And yeah, you can bet your bubble and squeak that NBC is paying through the nose for broadcast rights. Which means they'd rather jealously fight any attempts by competitors to pre-empt their coverage, even online.
You'd thing the whole 1930's-1945 thing would have made up for it <_<;

Yes, 1930s. Americans had been loaning the Brits war material before we officially entered, you know.

Also, can you guys please spoiler this stuff?
