Only that it resulted in the doom of an entire subforum. It was before my time.

(That's how you do it. :P)
Whatever :P

Still, kinda interesting that VN discussion is allowed while ponies aren't. Makes me wonder just how much worse the bronies were.

I am disappointed by the lack of Bill Nye in this thread.

The military hasn't executed anyone in a few decades, if memory serves. I think one was authorized a few months ago, but I don't think it has been carried out yet.
Wasn't that for the dude who murdered/executed a bunch of citizens? I have a hard time thinking that he doesn't deserve it...
If you are speaking of the one who killed 25 Afghan civilians when his traumatic brain injury suddenly triggered a fit of psychotic rage, no. I don't know where he is now. The one I'm speaking of raped and murdered some of his fellow soldiers some years ago.
Huh. I thought they gave that dude the death penalty as well. Or maybe I got confused by the calls for his death. Not sure anymore :(

Alright, a question for the computer techies around here.

My problem started a couple of weeks ago, when I tried to switch a windowed program to fullscreen mode. It did the job, but something went wrong. The icons on my taskbar will disappear at random, resulting in something like this:

Please note that restarting the computer DID NOT fix the problem. I am currently using a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium with Intel processors and graphics card.

Any suggestions?

Shuttle Loops. Shuttle Loops everywhere. They're cheap for a roller coaster, go through customers quickly, and they're exciting enough that lots of people will pay large amounts of money for them. You literally cannot go wrong with a shuttle loop.

Posting to say that I love science.

To be honest, I'm not clear on what exactly the Higgs Boson is, or what sort of ramifications or applications it has (if any), but I know that physicists have been looking for it for a while and I am happy for them.

More good news! I go to a community college, reasonably cheap for the quality of teachers and campus they have. I applied for some student aid that would reduce the cost of classes to just $1. I got it.

Sure, books will still cost most of my left arm, but that's a significant chunk of change to not worry about.

Court-martialed for some kind of insubordination is probably more likely. I wonder when the army stopped shooting people for cowardice.
According to this, death can indeed be the maximum punishment for cowardice. However, I'm not sure how many cowards are actually executed nowadays; something tells me there'd be a s**t-storm if it happened.

I've got the entire freaking house to myself for pretty much the rest of the week. Cue classic rock marathon (now playing: "Jump" by Van Halen) while cleaning house and learning how to use Python. Good times  8)

I heartily approve of this. I'm doing Project Euler problems with Python while listening to classic rock. I read this post right as Jump started playing.

This, my good sir, is a sign. A good sign.
Clearly the gods of Rock & Roll are smiling upon you. Make the most of it!

I always thought any soldier who was serious about peace would have just put their arms down and said no more.

Is it even possible to quit the military when serving? I've never heard of it.
You'd probably get dishonorably discharged, but I'm not sure.
