I downloaded a ton of Marvel characters, but I can't figure out how to use them, can anyone help me figure it out?
Buttonmashing?
No, no, no, that's my usual strategy, I can't figure out how to install them.
1st: Put each of the character folders (not the RAR files you might have downloaded) into you MUGEN's char folder.
2nd: Go to the data folder and open the "select" text document. NotePad is fine.
3rd: Go to the section with the title [Characters]. Skip past the tutorial text with the semicolons, and look for a a line like this:
Code: [Select]
kfm, random4th: Under the above line, type the exact name of each character folder you placed in char. You may also wish to add the ", random", which will tell the game to choose a random stage when you fight that character. Make sure each character/stage combination is on a different line. Example:
Code: [Select]
WarMachine, random
ryuDG, random
ultrarox_vice, random
5th: Save the select file.
6th: Run MUGEN!

I don't personally have any, but I can look around at some of my bookmarked sites.

So yeah, I know even less about the series than I thought I did :P

Ah, I see. All I know of that series is that in at least one of the games, characters shot themselves in the head with handgun-looking things.

SMTIV is being made for the 3DS. Now I can kill my friends over ideological differences about how the new world order should be run in GLORIOUS 3D!
What's SMTIV? I keep reading it as "Sim TV"  :-\

Even if zombies do not exist (for the sake of an argument, let's say we know beyond all reasonable doubt that they do not)...what would your first reaction be if a complete stranger came running at you, growling incoherently with blood dripping from his mouth? That's when the good-old fight-or-flight response kicks in. Dude could be high on all sorts of drugs, or so insane that you can't simply talk to him.
The only logical response would be to turn into Batman.
Isn't that the logical response to everything, ever?

Dr. McNinja demonstrates why that isn't always a good idea.

Except for Ruler Designer (which...designs rulers, with limits on when you can do so), the DLC is all musics. (except for the soon-coming? expansion thing with the muslims.)
Not quite true. There is a pack of additional shield emblems/designs, and a Mongolian face pack.
Can someone point me towards a demo now? Please? :P

There's also a demo that while limited to three characters gives you a taste of what the core mechanics of the game is about.
Where can I find the demo? It looks a little like EUIII, and that had trouble running on my system while I found the game itself a little slow to hold my interest.

Now, to be fair a lot of fighting games (like Street Fighter and Fatal Fury) and JRPGs have anime-esque character designs.

Have you tried thermite? That stuff puts lava to shame and takes forever to cool properly.

But yeah....
If you would like the BEEEEEEEEEEST results, download Spiderman and Superman from one site, and watch them go nuts.
If you would like the NOT BEST, BUT VERY GOOD results, do whatever you want.

Its still too disheartening unless I can find all my old favorite characters AND find a easy to use dedicated site.
This. I play MUGEN because I want lots of different characters, not everyone from a certain series or whatever.

Yes, do a google search and you will find what you need.
Also, I was thinking of doing a tournament in M.U.G.E.N, basically everyone says what character they want, then they get rounds etc until the finals, and the reward should be something special, y'know what I mean?
That seems ripe for failure as everyone picks their favorite god-tier characters :P

But what's the point of M.U.G.E.N. if you're just gonna use a single series/franchise? Go nuts!

@ Rex_Nex: A lot of it depends on individual characters, since they were all made by different people. You can have a Batman character that can do nothing but walk forwards and punch, or a really cool Batman that has all sorts of crazy moves and strategies.

I have seen Kung-Fu Man win, even against powerful characters. Rarely. Very rarely. But it isn't impossible.
