Yeah, they're kinda pricy :-/

Alright, how about Dungeons of Dredmor? It's a bit like a graphical rougelike, with some pretty weird humor (includes DF references) and some pretty tense/awesome moments. Monster Zoos in particular.

Iji gets your blood pumping, and it's totally free.

Fortune Summoners has some awesome side-scrolling sword combat, but I'm pretty sure you have that already.

Jamestown if you like bullet hell games.

Make that the Battle Tower! Or possibly recreate the Lavender Tower.

Congrats on your progress with Japanese :D

Recently, Operation: Raccoon City was released on Steam. Looks like a four player co-op shooting zombies and enemy agents. Not quite like Mercenaries though.
Perhaps Sniper Elite? It's a score attack game.

No city of Boatmurdered? Or is that the purpose of the Elephant starter?

Aye, adventurers are quick to die, and thus, are mostly for short-term fun. They don't RP like nobles, have no rights unless they *become* a noble(how often does that happen, and how?), and are mostly just for romping around the world clearing undead, finding random loot, and pissing nobles off.
They can be rather helpful. My adventurer on Dwilight seems to have prevented a monster attack before it could happen, finding a region where the monsters were about to hit critical mass and trimming their numbers (even going up against an alpha creature, though he couldn't kill it).

I guess there's a big difference on what can be done by release date, what will be done after release, and what we'd do (assuming we had 10,000 coding monkeys that worked for peanuts).

I thought the flashlights looked sexy and have big hopes that the guns and melee weapons are just as fluidly controllable. I also hope that on the really easy planets you can scare away bats and stuff with just your torch. I just think it would be cool for some non-weapon creature interaction to be worked into the game. Actually, it would be nice if some creatures we drawn to or enraged by light sources as well, but they might not be on the really easy planets.

"Oh, look, I got $40 for chasing away bats with my torch. I love torches."
"Wow, I got $40,000 and a stack of resources when half a planet of death-moths came at me when the sun went down. I hate torches."

This sort of stuff would be cool
Put torch in open, wait in darkened sniper tower, all-you-can-kill fest, get monies.
Only if you knew ahead of time that death moths A: Were on that world, and B: Were attracted to torches. Considering the randomly-generated aspects, it's possible that you get attacked without having time to prepare.

We do have a dog, but he recently got a flea and tick treatment and haircut. Besides, don't fleas tend to burrow in or something? These are more like mosquito or spider bites.

Not unless bedbugs can spontaneously appear, no. I've had this bed for years, and its a waterbed in any case (nowhere for bedbugs to hide). The most recent new furniture we've gotten is a new couch, but that's been here for a few weeks now and no one else is reporting bites.

Game, but not video game. Posting it here anyways.

Charged in with spear and sword (preferred combo absent shield) versus opponent with greatsword. Managed to lock him with a spear plant and a twist, swung for the throat, but he suprised my by rolling onto his back - pulling me with him, because of the locked weapon, until I was held against his knees.

He then proceeded to grab the crossguard of my sword and hit me three times in the face before I could react while making sounds akin to "woobly woobly woobly".

*DEAD*

I killed him more than he killed me total, but he definitely knows how to make defeat a lot more humiliating.

Um...I'm not sure what this is.  It sounds cool.
Never done it before, but it sounds a bit like LARPing.

Woke up this morning to find my legs covered in bug bites. So much itching D:
Changed out sheets and blankets, hoping that eventually I'll be able to get some sleep without worrying about more bites.

Flipping through tv channels, hear Queen's "We Are the Champions".
"Ooh!" I think.  "Queen!  That's our favourite band, self!"
Then I pause to listen for half a second.
"Wait... butchered arrangement?  Emphasis on image and style rather than bringing something unique to the cover table?  Obvious disregard for Freddie's memory, focusing on commercialization instead?  Excessive use of auto-tune?!
"I'm watching Glee!

"FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU-"

Now I'm sad at the state of the "music" industry.  If I was actually any good at the guitar I'd form a rock band, but I guess not.
This is me. ALL OF MY HATE, GLEE. ALL OF IT.

I know Mass Effect is hardly the hardest of science-fiction, but I did like their hand-wave of stealth; that is, using internal heat sinks to prevent emissions. There were some problems: it wasn't very effective if the engine was running, it was useless on anything going FTL, and most importantly it could only run for a matter of hours before the heat had to be released, unless the crew wanted to be cooked. Still, it was internally consistent and did nothing to hide against a visual or radar scan. It also helps that the only ship that had stealth was small as far as military ships in the series go and specially designed.
