Other Games / Re: Games you wish existed

From what I understand, Australia sinks cargo ships containing computer games on sight.
Mostly just JRPGs and anything more violent than Halo 3 (which, depending on the politician, either equates to Luigi's Mansion or Manhunt).
Plus they sink half the ships anyway to drive up the price.
I was under the impression (mostly from Yahtzee) that the gamers themselves want the games, but the politicians are still stuck in the Jack Thompson stage of game savvy.

Hmm, I'm afraid I don't remember as much about the mechanics as I thought. Refresh my memory, are space stations useful? I wouldn't mind commanding one of those, perhaps as a DS9 trading hub of sorts.

Okay, so, mage games. Obviously the main attraction is all the magery going on.

But, what about the rest of the setup? Would being a band of roving adventurers be different from being a squad of royally-directed agents? What if they were royalty, or servants of an evil overlord?

I guess what I'm asking is, what's the best context for being a Fucking WizardTM in?
I've been fiddling with a perma-death mage RTD myself. The basic idea is that an ancient labyrinth built by a powerful Dark Wizard has been discovered in a dwarven kingdom. This kingdom has forbade the practice of magic for hundreds of years, but there is a curse on the entrance to the labyrinth that prevents any non-magical being from entering. The cruel and despotic dwarf king wants the no-doubt tremendous riches inside, and so grudgingly sends out a call for mages to come and test their luck. Thus, they come from all over, are placed into impromptu parties, and are sent in.

Think Magicka with a group of four friends. The party would need a wide range of magic to succeed, and death would come quickly and brutally. Thankfully, more can be sent in as needed.

*shrug*

Pass that metaphorical pile of salt this way. It's generally safe to assume that any Yahoo! comments section is full of trolls trolling each other.

This is a pretty big deal, right?

Look at the poll at the bottom, too. A full half of the country supports gay marriage, assuming the poll is accurate. Who says there's no progress?  ;D

.... It's a BBC link. British Broadcasting Company. I somehow doubt Americans who oppose gay marriage and vote that way show up in that. Honestly. I somehow picture that demographic watching Fox News.
Quote
A Gallup poll on Tuesday suggested that 50% of Americans were in favour of legalising gay marriage - a slightly lower proportion than last year - while 48% said they would oppose such a move.
Nope, looks like an American-run poll asking Americans. The BBC is just reporting it.

Edit: Fixed some linkage fail  :-[

I'm an independent (technically, an "Unaffiliated" voter). So yesterday, I had the option of the Dem primary ballot, the Republican primary ballot (which is what I chose), the Libertarian ballot (which had almost no candidates), or the Unaffiliated ballot which only had the supposedly non-partisan judicial races and the marriage amendment question.

Now, about 10 years ago, independents could ONLY have chosen the Unaffiliated ballot. Ever since they opened it up to allow indies to choose their primary ballot, the number of people registering independent/unaffiliated has grown dramatically.

Since I'm not registered with any party, I don't get the political junk mail. My wife is a card-carrying Democrat with a history of organizing and fundraising, so she does. I'll be curious to see if I start getting GOP junk mail. In theory, my vote is secret but I'm not entirely sure that my choice of ballot is.
That sounds like a better system. At least you get to participate in preliminary stuff without getting the junk mail :P

Probably wanna take discussion of theoretical future super-Congresses to the Progressive thread, as it's unlikely to happen in the upcoming elections (which is what this thread is for, last I checked).

Here's a question for the folks in this thread: what are your local rules regarding independents and party elections? In my state, registered independent or non-partisan voters (like myself) do not get to vote in primaries. On the plus side, I don't get junk mail from a half-dozen presidential nominees either, but I'm wondering what it's like elsewhere.

I assume those are honeypot ants, which eat a ton of sweet liquid until their abdomens swell up. And yes, you can see through them.

EDIT: Link added.

Wait, aren't the Ktarians the ones who destroyed the Martynov? Why are we making friends with them instead of, say, reducing all of their worlds to ash? :P

Took a Phantom Hammer to da face. I tried to be clever and duck, but the enemy unleashed a shockwave that knocked me into the air first. Least the boss music was fun.

This looks pretty cool. I have Dolphin, I'll have to try running this.

Otherwise, good luck finding a copy :P

Clone took a concussion grenade to the face. What was left of his head made a very fine spray over a nearby wall.

I recall a weird Racing Arcade Game from the 90's, and yes, there were many; I remember something very peculiar about this game though. Halfway through the race, you would encounter a rather ugly man standing on the track. If you tried to dodge him though, he would inevitably move to intercept your car anyways. Once you run over him, he climbs on top of your hood and smashes it with a pipe wrench (or something similar). Game over.

Any ideas?

Not sure if being trolled...  That just sounds TOO weird.
Sounds a little like how SkiFree worked. You go down a hill and at a certain point a yeti runs over to eat you. The yeti was very difficult to avoid, and yes being eaten was a game over.
