Gonna download X: Beyond the Frontier and try to play it on this computer. Here's hoping it works, because I've never been able to make it past the tutorial on the old comp.

Neither could I. Mostly because I was so used to flying fighters in Freespace 2, I was unused to flying something that felt like a brick yet turned on a dime, bounced off the gates too much and failed the tutorial.

From skipping the tutorial, I can tell you that the rest of the game is similarly obtuse.

I'm completely addicted to X3, however.
See, I couldn't get past the tutorial because the game would crash every time :P

A quick bit of Google-fu later, it seems that the original Spider-Man was, in fact, bitten by a radioactive spider. No mention is made of the species however; in fact, the comic referred to it as an "insect" :P

Hey, if you got bit, there's always a chance you'll turn into spiderman.
Only if it's radioactive. Regular brown recluses will simply melt your flesh.
Did it ever say what kind of spider bit spiderman?
I'm sure you could find multiple, conflicting sources. I'm not even sure if the fluff can agree it was a radioactive spider, or an alien, or genetically altered, or what.

That sounds like the kind of retroness this game is going for, and something that will let it run on cheaper graphics cards.
Dear Armok, I hope so.

.... 0x10^c is 0. Just pointing that out.
It's a programming joke. Something about 16-bit computers, I dunno.

Cookie dough will always be the best ice cream.

How are you gonna have planetary surfaces and stuff without textures?

Lighting looks kinda funky, but I guess it doesn't have to shoot for photo-realism.

@ Sowelu: The FPS is in the upper-left corner :P

Granted! 300 bricks fall on your head after being dropped from a Concorde jet.

I wish for skittles.

The answer is obvious: We build a giant toad. With magma pouring out of it's mouth.
