Wait, Bane has been on two successful missions now and gotten kills on both, and he isn't even a squaddie? Guess he'll just have to kick more ass in the future :P
Now that you mention it, yeah, that is odd.

Of course, from his own perspective a mere three aliens slain in two missions is probably fairly terrible. :P
On the plus side, he's gone two missions without executing anyone. That's a personal best! :D

I thought you said you were terrible at this game!  :o
Yet here you are wiping out terror missions without a single death! Sure, it's only floaters and reapers, but damn!

Any word on promotions and kills and stuff?

While I admit that the comments can get rather heated on that site, sometimes a valid point is made. Other times the fundie involved did some horrible thing like drown a child to rid it of demons, and people wanna vent. And of course, there's the comments that should probably be submitted to the site.

It's a crazy place, fill with crazy people mocking the crazy. I love lurking there :P

True. Of course, I've tried to avoid things like that since Dan Brown broke my mind.

Dan Brown? Or Dan Black?
Pretty sure he's talking about Dan Brown, of Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons fame.

Unless I'm totally wrong.

I will say that I find your crew setup interesting, but then it is always fun to see how others do things differently.
Well, the viewers voted Nia into the first officer position, and there wasn't any consensus on Kira or the rest. Of course, I can switch people around whenever :)

Poor, poor less-than-useful Tats.
The holds aren't all that useful this early in the game, however; but eventually, you can become a makeshift cargo fleet with pretty large craft with quite a few max-level holds (3x3 mods, +50 cargospace), and just do loops around a system for a couple grand per lap. It does get a bit dull, but as long as you fight while freighting, then you can collect fame and fortune over time, as well as crew experience.
I might do that if I ever need to grind for money (off-screen of course, I wouldn't subject you guys to that :P ). Right now though I'm more concerned about increasing livability so I can get to a fight without my crew passing out from exhaustion.

All right, we're starting to edge into spoiler territory here. I'd appreciate it if you'd hide your post :)

Anyway, it's a matter of playstyle. I never bothered with carriers very much (too squishy), but I found fighters to be rather effective when I had them.

EDIT: Fixed some format fail.

ALSO: Gonna be starting soon! Expect the update sometime today, depending on how long it takes to get through all of this and upload the screenies.

EDITEDIT: Just finished playing today's update! Time to get the pics uploaded and correct spelling mistakes, and I'll get it posted when I can :)
Spoiler alert: much ass is kicked.

Was reading a Yahoo article on the Health-Care hearings when I noticed this little gem in the comments.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That may not be the most insane thing I;ve read this century, but it's in the top ten.

Don't read much FSTDT/CSTDT, do you?  :P
Yeah, that's pretty tame. Plus it's on Yahoo, which means there's a reasonably good chance that Poe's law is in effect.

Seriously dude: post the title of the game. We all know that you're referring to Dwarf Fortress, but it's a good habit to get into.

Kicked to death by bandit bunnies.

Well, frontal assault is winning so far, so unless the vote takes a complete 180 that's what I'll be doing in a few hours. Chances are this update will be slightly shorter than the previous one, but I haven't decided one way or the other.

I've gotten a few guys at school interested. The other day, one of them made a "tearing the fat and struck down" joke in regards to getting hit with a weapon. Mission accomplished  :D

Really? Got a link? Sounds awesome!
Here ya go.
It's not until near the end of the LP, but the whole thing is fun.

In related news, juggling the loadouts for everyone is a complete pain in the ass, mainly because I have to go unequip everything then find its right owner. And remember who ordered what autocannon ammo and who wanted grenades.
I think that's a pretty common complaint about this game :P

We need to get some sort of arcade for the Mars colonists, or at least a way to hook into the Internet for news and Youtube. I vote for improving communications by any means possible, bandwidth especially.

We also need to expand the hydroponics capability of the colony, preferably to the point they can grow small fruits and vegetables. We can also look into a somewhat distasteful possibility: grown meat. Get some muscle from an animal or fish, bathe it in nutrients, and carefully harvest the growing stuff. It won't replace a good burger, but it will add some protein and variety to their meals.

While those possibilities are being looked into, I want to check out those Martian facilities, especially that ammo depot. Who knows what sorts of precursor tech might be locked away?

Like I said, I'm terrible at comprehending this stuff. That's why I come here, so I can sort through the chaff and get the salient bits.
