It does  :o

Now I just need to figure out why and how this all works. Time for a textbook binge, I guess.

There's a bunch of them, all located in the calculate statement.

'function' : cannot convert from 'float *' to 'float'

I haven't had an alcoholic beverage since my 21st birthday two years ago. That said, I sure feel tempted to drown my sorrows right about now.

Can't fucking sleep -_-

I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. Did your changes, build failed.

I didn't type it properly before, so I wholeheartedly support the stickyfication of this thread!

I'll work on it more tomorrow, after a good night's sleep. I just submitted what I had. I'm thinking that a partial assignment is better than no assignment at all.

Here's the code I submitted:

And now, I think I will go to bed. Maybe inspiration will strike while I sleep; it's happened before.

'Cause I'm panicking because this thing is due in 10 minutes.

I want to program, dammit! What' wrong with me, why can't I get this?  :'(

Sorry. Re-rail!

The beard can be rectified, and as for the height, well, all we need is a sledgehammer, bone saw, and a whole lot of painkillers.
Those beard are admitidly pretty cool-looking. I prefer my height however; I can reach things that my short vertically-challenged friends can not.

So it would be a hole in the ground with pipes leading into a pit/pond. That really doesn't add much.

Ok, I made those changes (though I can't say I remember seeing that in any of my previous assignments, sample programs, or notes, but w/e), and got rid of the ampersands in the outputData statement (they were showing up as an error). This got the program to run, but the results for each of the calculations are -107374176.00. I'm assuming that that's not correct, so back to the drawing board I go.

Fergus, a quick look in my textbook's index shows that "dereference" doesn't show up for another 400 pages. In simple English, please?

DF General Discussion / Re: FAQs about Toady and DF
« on: February 17, 2012, 02:15:36 am »
You're entitled to your opinion, but Toady himself states his reasons in the audio recording I linked.

I know, I just don't understand how is a flashing ASCII or tile-graphic going to bring bad publicity. It is fine if he doesn't want to do it, the only thing sex would add is that the two ASCII will come together and flash between the two. Right now, there is sex, it just doesn't show it (unless someone has heard of a woman giving birth without husband in the game).

However, I don't know if this is the case already, women should not be giving birth if the father (or mother if she's the one in the army) is, lets say, in the army and the army is attacking some other fort or town; unless the woman, you know, decided she just couldn't wait.

If this is already the case, then forget sex (no point in wasting time and code in bringing two ASCII together) but the pair should at least be together for it to happen.

As for feces, well it would be another challenge (you need plumbing in your fort. Unless you decide to use septic tanks) so I think it would be good to add. Again, low priority. I don't think people will think of the game as "that game where dwarfs poop". The game is so big (and getting bigger) that feces will be such a small thing that people will just see it as an extra thing.
It is commonly thought that animals in this game re-produce with spores. If you have, say, a female horse deep underground and tied up, and a wild male horse wanders onto the map, the female can get pregnant and give birth eventually without ever going near the male.

Female dwarves can give birth no matter where the father is, even if he's dead. That's because they don't give birth at random, they get pregnant and have a gestation period first. As far as I know, there's no way to tell in-game if something is pregnant until they give birth and go about their business.

I'm in no hurry to add feces to this game. I have no desire to be a sewage technician in real life, so why would I want to deal with it in a game?

Ok, I've been beating my head against this problem for the past two hours, and this assignment is due by midnight, so if I could kindly have a little help? I think the problem is that it's not calling the calculate function properly, as the program will run, and it'll do the printf() statements just fine, but I just get zeroes and 8-digit numbers.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The only error I can see on-screen (and again, the program will actually run with it), is a red line under the outputData statement in the main function. Mousing over it gives the message "no instance of overloaded function "outputData" matches the argument list".

I disagree with Vector to a certain degree. I think you should at least look into a preliminary visit with a psychologist, and maybe a normal physician if you can. Be honest with them and say that you're trying to figure out if you're bi-polar or just going through some stress. It may well be that you just need more sleep or something, but if it's determined that you do have a problem and drugs might be able to help, by all means get them. I know I was certainly less depressed when I was on medication.
