Yeah, this session was much better than last time. We got through three fights, my dwarf actually managed to do damage (quite a lot of it, actually, but not as much as most of the others), and our poor rogue nearly died. Plus we scored some nice magical treasure and a lot of loot. Very fun!

Is it possible for a siege to just ... leave you alone?

So far I have a moat around my new fortress, (I still have to find stone passed this aquifier to get mechanisms for the drawbridge), and I was wondering if it was possible to just .... lock yourself away from all of them and wait the seige out until they get bored. This would save me some time ... BIG time...
You can just wall off the entrance to your fort. Nothing can break down walls.

I reclaimed a fortress earlier today, and I'm noticing that a number of bins are going unused, and several stockpiles are not using enough (or any at all). All stockpiles are set to use the maximum number, I did a mass reclaim of all objects (so nothing is forbidden anymore), and I have no bins in reserve. They're just sitting in my furniture stockpile, not getting used. What gives?

Undesignate and redesignate the stockpile?
Moot point. I got hit with a goblin lasher squad, and couldn't reach the drawbridge lever in time. A military reclaim failed to fight them off. I'm afraid I have to write this one (and it's awesome artifact) off.

What? I'm here now  :P

Just making sure, we're using 1.8 now, right?

Dunno why I said 1.8. I meant B87.

Well, who knows what the criteria are? Maybe you took too long, or something.

I have a similar story from Medieval II: Total War (before I ragequit the game due to every other faction turning against me simultaneously for some reason). I had a small army composed almost exclusively of mercenaries garrisoning a city in Northern France. I was at war with France at the time, and I noticed a slightly smaller army massing on the edges of my vision. The army included ballistae, so I knew that they were going to attack me. I sent the entire garrison, consisting of 5 units of spearmen, 2 units of crossbow-men, and a single heavy cavalry unit, to either drive them off or kill them, only to find out that another, far larger army was lurking within range to join the battle.

By good fortune, I began the battle on a reasonably steep hilltop in the middle of the map. I knew that I would be surrounded and badly out-numbered, so what did I do?
"Spearmen, form circles!"
"Crossbow-men, in the middle! Fire at will!"
"Cavalry, into the woods!"

With the spearmen circles surrounding the ranged units, the enemy infantry and light cavalry were unable to find a weak spot to exploit, and they died by the dozens. When enemy bowmen or ballistae approached to try and cut my units down, the heavy cavalry ran them over, often before the siege units could get a single shot off. Victory was ours, and the mercenaries returned to the city to recover.

These same mercenaries would prove themselves again in two consecutive battles a few years later, when their city was over-run by the perfidious French. The French had brought more ballistae, and their power was enough to bring the walls down. The mercenaries fought hard, but were forced to retreat out of the city. In desperation, they attacked the French next season while the walls were still broken, pouring through and massacring every enemy soldier in a meatgrinder battle to the town square. Something like a tenth of the mercenaries were still alive after those two fights. In my mind, every single one of them earned medals and gold several times over.

I wonder if it's because European countries have fought each other off and on for hundreds of years, and now they have to get along as much as possible. 150-200 years ago, France and England might have gone to war over such remarks.

Well, if you only have ten guys after a fight like that, you still took a ton of casualties. They may still have several armies left, and you've got ten guys.

On other note, was I the only one to find the cemetery dungeon rather easy? Aside from those ghost mages, I mean. It was such a great money-farming opportunity that I was able to easily get the master sword and iron armor, and I think the only time someone went down was when Stella got cornered by some skeletons.

True. Shame that each bottle is it's own stack, which tends to fill your inventory quickly.

Also, where is the accessory that prevents confusion? I kinda need it.
One word: Harpies.

Harpies aren't going away any time soon, so you'll need that accessory.

Yellow Slimes are utter bastards, thanks to their long-range attack tripping me up every goddamn time. It's like the creator wanted to abuse people's expectations when it comes to palette-swapping.

My most recent death(s) was in Knights of the Old Republic. I'm trying to fight some sith apprentice and his two minions, but it seems impossible. Every time I knock him below half health, he begins spamming some bullcrap lightning attack that hits all of my party members while healing substantial chunks of his own HP.
