Well, realistically it's perfectly feasible that Venus is actually closer, based on orbital positions.

I doubt that's how this game is running though. In any case, I want to pick up those probes, in case they have anything our scientists should look at.

ptw = Posting to Watch

I agree with NUKE's suggestion. We swing by Venus, collect the data from the probes, and then return to Earth. Sell some rocks, some pictures, keep the important stuff secret, and most importantly find out what the scientists have been working on.

Eh, we've never had problems with it. I suppose you could use filtered or bottled water if you wanted.

I think I recognize your avatar.

On topic. The Conquistador killed me. Again. Repeatedly.

Yes, let's. Shame about the minerals; I'm not sure it will be worth the effort to have a bunch of mining shuttles flying here and there, but that is a question for the future. Hopefully the away team had better luck.

Has anyone here tried making sun-brewed tea? You need a large, clear glass jar (with lid), your favorite tea mix, and a sunny day. Fill jar with water, add tea (preferably in bags), close lid, and leave in direct sunlight for an hour or two. It's perfect for making large batches, if you're having a party or want to keep some chilled.

It's quite telling that the majority of the stills feature gorgeous women walking around in swimsuits. I foresee this being featured on MST3K.
If it hasn't already, I'm pretty sure it won't, as MST3K stopped running around the turn of the millenium (Feb. 1999, IIRC). OTOH, Rifftrax is basically the MST3K people minus not being able to mock AAA movies, so~
You get what I'm saying though. This reeks of 50's style B-grade goodness.

I doubt they'll try to attack any time soon. Aren't we several decades (at least!) ahead of them tech-wise, thanks to this alien spacecraft we're flying around in? Do any of the governments on Earth even have a space fleet? I was under the impression that we're pretty much the only fish in the pond for now.

Dunno what supermarket you shop at, but I've never had cardboard-tasting tea.

You guys with your fancy tea flavors  :P

Real men, manly men who wrestle alligators to death on a daily basis and eat rusty nails for breakfast, and can start a fire with a look of PURE ANGER...they drink black tea, no sweetener or lemon.

The thing about space stations is that you can put them pretty much anywhere. It's not like they remain stationary in any case. If we do find something worth exploiting, then we can worry about stations.
Indeed. We don't even have the technology to place them, but if we come across an interesting rock, we can take that back to earth, no problem.
Mineral scan it is!
+1
Not Earth. We keep it aboard the ship to research.
Nah, we can't keep everything on our ship. We'll run out of room eventually, and we don't want to keep all of our scientists and knowledge on a ship that may be going into battle or dangerous situations. We need an off-world research station, out of reach of the Earth governments. That means somewhere other than the Moon. Mars perhaps.
