Star Trek is now real. You are assimilated by the Borg before falling into a black hole.

I wish for potato chips.

First class of the new semester? Intro to Digital Games. Less than 30 minutes in and I could tell it was going to be an awesome class. An excuse to play and talk about games plus we're going to use Unity3D (which I already have some experience in) to make some demo sized games.
Lucky bastard.

To be honest using vassal40k might be simpler, if not one of the other tabletop modeling programs.
I will look that up later. On the school network right now, and I can't download stuff.

Good point about the water. We need to find a water source first. We don't need iodine tablets though; all we need to do is boil the water to kill off any nasty things.

I wonder, though, how Coolness would implement other players in game if other people are willing to join. A trade caravan, a roving band of nomads, or the (cliche maybe) Military?

Setting is in the U.S.A. right? From where I am, West means a lot of things from the Greenwich Meridian.
Yeah, apparently this game takes place in California. I had the same question, since The West can be taken to mean "anything west of the Middle East" in some cases.

True, there are many ways that we can go about the whole infection thing, though I guess it's up to Coolness.

A garden would be nice, especially if I could grow medicinal herbs. Something tells me that real drugs are going to be hard to come by.

Yes, but going that route means that I wouldn't be able to actually treat anyone injured by a zombie, unless by "treat" you mean "put a bullet in the brain".  :-\

... you're actually claiming that 12kb/s is slower than a 28.8k modem? Youngins :-\

That's better than 2-3x faster than a 56k, which is about twice as fast as a 28.8k. Not even remotely in the same ballpark, heh.
What, 56k isn't 56k/s?

...welp, I'm gonna shut up now and hide under a rock. Maybe hit my head on it a few times first.

I can beat all of y'all. I'm currently downloading a file at a measly 12Kb/s. I think I need to replace my router, because this is insane.

How does the infection spread? Is a single bite or scratch a death sentence? Are we immune somehow? Can we only be zombified after death, no matter how many times a zombie injures us? I'm a doctor, I need to know these things.

That might be smart.

Alright, here is a sample map I whipped up. I'm currently using a program called The Creator System 2 to make the maps, and then exporting the map into Paint in order to add the Marines and stuff. It's a very cumbersome technique, but it's the best I can do right now. If anyone has suggestions on an easier solution, I welcome them.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The red arrows are the Space Marines, with numbers to keep track of the individuals. The blue rectangle is a door, currently closed. The purple arrows are genestealers, and the green circle is a radar blip.

I'm hoping to still have the ability to see by the age of 40...

Meh, we'll have cybernetic eyes by then.  If I wasn't so lazy I'd go look up the most recent stuff I've read on it.  I think they can get like 16x16 pixel resolution on such stuff now with the current cameras and brain interfaces.

Or I could be crazy and misremembering.
That's...not terribly great. Still beats total blindness though, and like you said we have no idea what the technology will be like in 40 years.
