Haha, these are quite brilliant. A guy thought what would some well-known films look like, and whom would they star, if they were made a generation or two earlier - and he made a bunch of posters for those films.
Great choices across the board. I especially like Christopher Walken as T-1000, James Dean in Rushmore, and havign Fritz Lang direct 2001: A Space Odyssey(that is, Odyssee im Weltraum, of course).
Lots of fun for film buffs.
Some of those look amazing (like Inception). Others are painfully obvious Photoshops, and not so good. Very funny concept all around.

Making them bestial isn't much better than making them orcs. Mostly depends on how bestial and what beasts they draw inspiration from.

After thinking about it for a while, I'd have liked to see the Mutons as a sophisticated and almost gentlemanly force, like the Three Musketeers but with more plasma. Not raw power, but an iron fist in a velvet glove. The only reason that they're killing you is because their superiors have ordered them to. In another time and in a different place they would have enjoyed swapping war-stories with you. Admittedly they'll never go in that direction, but it could have been neat.
Keep in mind, the introductory cut scene for the original game had them gunning down civilians in cold blood. Not something that comes to mind when you think "Three Musketeers". I can totally understand where bestial idea comes from.

Personally, would rather have Mutons wear power armor instead of green spandex. Would look much more imposing.

Glowing Sectoids I'm iffy about, but I love the design they've got going for the Thin Men.

Would be fun to actually have SCAR's in the game. I would love to actually handle one myself. But then again, I would love to try each gun in existance. Me love me boomsticks.
Mods.

@ Xanatos Jr: Technically this is a board game, not a tabletop. It's still pretty cool.

@ Kilroy the Grand: Don't worry, there aren't a lot of complicated rules or measuring ranges by the inch.
Canonically, the Blood Angels chapter is undertaking this mission. It doesn't really matter what chapter you want to be though, as they don't use the normal tabletop rules. No Black Rage or anything like that to worry about.

@ Lorgath: Supposedly, the rules for the third edition are an amalgamation of the previous two; it draws heavily from the original, while including rules for special weapons and Librarians. I can't vouch for this though, since this is the only edition of Space Hulk I've ever seen.

@ Simmura McCrea: Well, so far there's only 6 of you guys, which is more than enough for the early missions but not enough for later ones. Anyone who dies would be put on the bottom of the wait list, so everyone gets a shot at slaying xenos.

Is there colonization? I want colonization, dammit. Everything else looks amazing, and I'll probably get it regardless, but is it too much to ask for a space sim with a colony system?

Fake Edit: $24.95? Maybe I'll wait for a better sale...

Holy crap, you weren't kidding about the horrible site design  :o

Still, the game sounds amazing. Is there a Bay 12 alliance/guild/corporation/whatever?

Play With Your Buddies / Gauging Interest: Space Hulk

Space Hulk is a board game released by Games Workshop and set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It features a small squad of Space Marine Terminators as they battle to survive the genestealer onslaught aboard a derelict clump of ships drifting through space. The action is turn-based, and very tense. Terminators have the advantage of ranged weapons and tactics, but the genestealers are nearly limitless in number and have the overwhelming edge in close combat.

Games Workshop has released three editions of the game over the years, and I was lucky enough to be one of the relative few to snag the latest one. Since there aren't very many people in my area interested in tabletop games in general, and WH40k in particular, I figured I'd try my hand at running an online campaign, a chess-by-mail sort of game. I would be GM and genestealer player, while fellow Bay Watchers would each be allowed to control a single Marine, and work together to complete the objectives for each mission.

Right now, I'm merely trying to see how many people would be interested in such a game. Please share what thoughts you have.

That is amazing, Truean. You are amazing.

In unrelated and suddenly much less interesting news, happy birthday to me. It's a weird feeling, getting older.

Happy Inevitable March to Death Day!

Wait that didn't come out right...
In the same vein...
Happy Birthday! Your life still isn't over!

Here's hopping that a future update includes landing legs or something for the capsule, since engines tend to explode if they hit the ground at any speed whatsoever. I'm still not sure how things are supposed to land on Mun and get back up again.

Not that that's a problem right now, since I can barely achieve a stable orbit as it.
