« on: January 13, 2012, 12:49:17 am »That's why I think I may have been at the wrong angle. For most of my final rocket, I was mostly boosting at an "upward" angle. Should I be boosting more parallel to the ground or even slightly down?My best flight to date:
Altitude: 257,767m
Top Speed: 2,509m/s
Ground Distance: 1,919,396m
I was SO CLOSE to achieving at least one orbit of Kearth/Kerbin/whatever. Not sure if the angle for the final stage was wrong, or if I was burning too much/not enough/at the wrong times, but I got a little over halfway around the planet according to the blue circle on the map screen.
You don't need so much altitude. You can orbit comfortably at 100km, unless they've made Kerbin bigger since the last time I played.

What if I wanted to make an RPG that used classic JRPG mechanics (turn-based combat and the like)? What language would anyone recommend for that?
I tried the RPG Maker series, and it's ok. The problem is that you need to know how to code to do anything nifty, and the maker offers no clue into how the coding works.

I feel your pain. I did some programming in high school, and considered myself to be pretty good. Then I stop for a few years as reality kicks in, and now everywhere I look people are cranking out amazing things in just a few hours. It's quite a blow to the old self-esteem.

Tried it again, did much better (despite blowing up some of the engines). Got to 132km and landed off the coast of the next continent. I think the problem this time (exploding engines aside) was that I tried to shift into orbit before I totally left the atmosphere, and had to fight against drag whilst accidentally pointing towards the ground once or twice. Will try again later.

I admit we could use some more, though, like a decent free health-care plan.I'll agree that the Democrats would probably not be considered a left-wing party in Europe, if only because Europe did not singularly equate socialism with "being of the Devil" for 40 years.In Denmark, most of the last 70 years were spent being ruled by Social Democrats to the point that the Social Democrats are losing votes because they've actually more or less accomplished everything they rose to accomplish :b And now our politics are being ruined by people who think America is the best place to look for guidance ;_; But yeah, American Politics to me is like was said earlier, tragicomedy. My latest design managed to get me quite high, though I didn't quite manage orbit. Two rings of solid boosters surrounding three fuel tanks + liquid booster managed to propel my capsule to around 80km, and I (eventually) landed far out to sea. I need to learn how to steer the rocket better, because even turning off the SAS I still had to maintain constant pressure to fly any direction but straight "up".
