Other Games / Re: Shores of Hazeron: War was beginning

Paul said it best, I think. The pirate update came out of nowhere, when most of the smaller empires didn't even bother arming their ships because there was so little point. The update was horribly buggy to begin with; a simple tech level (TL) 1 empire with a single planet-hopper might find itself besieged by TL20 warships that opened fire on basically anything. Only now are pirates being reduced in strength, though the larger empires suffer daily attacks compounded by the AI suddenly getting stupider. Only the foolish or desperate send ships out unarmed now.

This is shortly after an update which re-worked how officers worked, and made hundreds of them (the officers, not the players!) commit suicide during a weekend when many players weren't around to stop it.

Now the game is buggier than ever. I haven't been on in weeks thanks to laggier-then-normal servers, and with the mail system crashing so frequently I have no idea what happened to my empire.

We survived our first mission, and improved! That's a better start than most of these poor fools.

I rarely look at news any more, just makes me depressed.
I play more video games instead.

Yaay for video games!
Wait.. when are electrical devices going to temporarily screw up for a few days/weeks?  ???
They might not ever. Solar flares may disrupt electronics in orbit, but on the ground we have a magnetic field, the ENTIRE ATMOSPHERE, and the built in protection found in many electronic devices.

The next solar maximum is supposed to be one of the weakest on record, but even if it wasn't there's not guarantee that anything on the ground would be affected.

I've already said the next solar maximus was going to be one of the weakest yet >_>

Probably lost somewhere in this mess. Anyways, they're both unrelated, mostly. Btw, Earth's magnetic field protects us from a lot of cosmic radiation, the atmosphere does absolutely nothing except get polluted nowadays and HONESTLY, what protection are you talking about?
Actually, the atmosphere in combination with the magnetic field protects against most wavelengths of light. That's a big reason for telescopes in space; they can detect things like X-rays that simply can't penetrate to the ground. Plus of course the space rubble that would hit the ground if it didn't burn up first.

Yes, particles from the sun are different, but a several-mile-thick layer of mass provides better protection than nothing at all.

I was under the impression that many devices were capable of resisting some amount of damage. Maybe it's just plugged-in things.

I'd play, but it's (Mostly) unplayable:Yes, it renders starships, interiors of starships, creatures, buildings, tools, vehicles, and plants:Just not the ground of the planet,it just has my character on air with water several feet below(Even though my species are flyers, but still.).It's on the windows 7 included intel core, any ideas?
Apparently Intel chips can't render the ground. Something about OpenAL (or was it OpenGL?) support. I have the same problem on my laptop.

Room temperature super conductors are getting closer every year.
There's only so many things you can stick superconductors into.
And so many things where a super conductor plain doesn't belong inside.
Well, I didn't want to be the one to say it :P

Erm Tellemurius, we can recycle our crap. That is known.

As for energy...

Sure it can't be destroyed, but it can be lost in bloody useless ways. Heat being the most pressing amongst them.
unless you're the monkey burning our trash then sure.

EVERYTHING we do loses energy in some way. No one's made a perpetual machine yet, so you won't need to be a monkey, or burn rubbish to screw the world over. Cars, people, Industry...
QFT. Thermodynamics, bitches.

Run your car's engine for awhile. Feel the heat? That's potential energy(gasoline) turning into near-useless thermal energy, gone forever.

35649
Just show interesting battles and research, stuff along those lines. We don't really need to see EVERY UFO capture, unless you do exceptionally well or poorly.

35650
Recycling doesn't work for everything. You can only process oil so many times, coal cannot be recycled (as it changes to different chemicals), and in the long(LONG) term we'll even run out of radioactive materials as they decay to uselessness. And Frumple's point about people starving still stands.

I'm not saying we need reduced population, what we need is STABLE population, and the ability to take care of the ones we have.

35651
Nope.

I only made one dude shoot one other dude. The other six self kills were on accident. Read the title of this LP again.
(conspiracy theorist mode GO)
HMMMMM...a likely story. The TRUTH, obviously, is that there was a THIRD shooter, behind a BARN. In order for the soldiers to have been killed, they must have been shot FROM BEHIND, via a MAGIC BULLET that by-passed Carl the ROOKIE. CARL was then ASSASSINATED by a COMMUNIST, only for the COMMUNIST to be murdered by MARK. I am RANDOMLY capitalizing WORDS, which makes me RIGHT.

seriously, Google's translation leaves much to be desired. "He has two hits, but saddly they are lower abroad ..."...what?

35652
I'm pretty sure you mean best LP ever, not to mention it is not nearly over. I was not kidding about wanting to LP this, nor was I kidding about doing it in Google translate language if I play on Super Human.
You made all your dudes shoot each other. I'd say that qualifies as worst!

Gods. Damned. Contraception.

Not having more than two children to a couple, with possibly incentives for those that just have one.

Not breeding like idiots doesn't take culling. It takes two brain cells to rub together and maybe, just maybe, overpower yer g'damn reproductive organs long enough to not screw over your species.

But it won't happen. Death by stupidity. Won't be 2012, and it'll be horrific when it comes, but them's the breaks.
hey there are families that can handle it, i say anything over 5 is beyond retarded
My family is just 4 people. Mother, Father, Me, Sister.

The real problem is people like Quiverfull, who deliberately seek to raise as many children as anatomically possible into weapons for some future holy war.

35654
Worst LP ever.

I cannot beat the eye of cthulu. It's the second form's charging attack - I can never dodge it. I have fought this boss three times and fail at that part repeatedly.

Add a long wooden platform above your arena at the max height you can build, then build another one above that, and use those to dodge as your run back and forth. My arena was about 3 screens long and 3 platforms high and I beat the eye in copper gear with a copper bow.
In my experience, extra length is a bad thing; it allows monsters to spawn off-screen and distract you.

I've got a big area like that - it's about one screen long and four platforms high. I don't think the extra length would help that much, though.
EDIT: Oh wow, that's some epic-level quote fail right here >.<
