My impression is that this is a very slow-paced game, not focused on epic battles but on grand strategy. Is that right?

I'm not saying that cops are "right" to hurt someone, I'm saying that they have the right to avoid getting hurt or killed. If someone is acting violent and I felt threatened, I would be within my rights to defend myself, sometimes even with lethal force. Similarly, if someone is acting in a manner that could be perceived as a threat, like struggling or suddenly reaching for something, I fully support a cop's right to defend him/herself and act accordingly.Considering the type of crap cops today have to deal with, including drug-fueled berserkers, bombs and people who wear them, and criminals who'll shoot at officers for a speeding ticket, is anyone REALLY surprised that some get a little "over-enthusiastic" at times? You ever see the video of a cop getting brutalized while taking a suspect to a holding cell? What about the guy who was so high that tasers had no effect? I'm sure you've heard of the Killdozer, covered in armor plating and armed with machine guns.Cops do not ever have an excuse to get "over-enthusiastic", potentially getting hurt is part of the risk they take when they sign up for a job. Just because there are people out there that want to hurt police officers, doesn't mean that they can do whatever they want to someone.
That's my WTF for today. People expecting cops to be perfect saints, but when they inevitably aren't bitching that all cops are evil, amoral Nazis.
I keep trying to read Hell's Gate. I like the idea, but so far the magic society is getting it's ass kicked, and it doesn't look like they even have a chance; something like 50 casualties to kill 10 people, despite wielding lightning cannons and other awesome stuff. Then a fortress of theirs gets curb-stomped. Still early in the book, but I'm not too fond of this.another of my ships found the system of Manticore (FUCK YES)Someone's a Weber fan
Actually, his novels are a curious thing for me: I enjoy his writing, but the constant political flanderization gets annoying, as does his overuse of authoritarian theocracies as antagonists. So I tend to just ignore those bits and enjoy the rest. (Actually, now that I think on it, Heinlein was somewhat similar IMO, except with promotion of free-love instead of political propaganda, for the most part, although it was generally much less intrusive.)
So I mostly read his stuff for the battles. Oh, and Hells Gate is just plain awesome, and I can't wait for the third volume, whenever that will finally be finished.
If it's on-board, yeah, it's a total crap shoot.On-board, and on a laptop no less so I can't change it out (at least according to the store I bought it from).

So, did anyone see this?Y'know, I kinda hope that Notch is the only one to get that hat. I'd love it for myself, but imagine playing a game and suddenly THIS HAT shows up. You will know that you are playing with a minor legend.
Valve gave notch the rarest ever hat

How is Limbo?According to Total Biscuit and a couple other reviews, it's just fancy. I'm not bothering with it.
Is it short, replayable at all, or just fancy?
