Can PDC's be scrapped?
I would love to recycle those ICBM's for what little they're worth, even better would be if i could shove em onto drones and make slightly less than useless 'upgrades' merely as fluff, but for some reason the refit cost of my old conventuional bases is 50% more than the cost of building entirely new ones with vastly superior tech.
Why scrap them? Can't you just toss them onto freighters and deliver them to minor colonies? It'll keep unrest down, at least.

I don't even know how to answer that.
you don't understand what I was saying, or have no clue as to what is happening?
I don't understand why your .jar file is transmuting into a .zip
apparantly that happens when you use Internet Explorer for downloads...

Internet Explorer works comepletely fine, I'm using it too. Using one web browser or the other doesn't change the behaviour of files.
True. I use IE on occasion, and I've never seen .rar files changing to .zip, or whatever else you're accusing it of.

This game sounds really fun but I can't seem to figure out how to play...

Can someone PM me - I want a mentor over teamviewer or something.

I'm doing this monkey see monkey do tutorial on free time:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/13152hgyUxjrjqLmAJpxXiiB3Oy7D-RiO4LsjpxQticw/edit?hl=en_US&pli=1

it's two thousand and half word long and it cover just the first turn, without even touching ship design nor colonization.
Sounds about right :P

My advice is to put her as a medic. We won't receive any good doctors for quite a while, IIRC, but we WILL be getting a good cook very soon. In fact, our roster will double in the next few updates.

Then again, this is a LET'S Play. If the majority want Kira performing !!SCIENCE!!, than who am I to stop you? :P

Would you guys be interested in my person opinion re: Kira?

He said he was taking inspiration from terraria. Also that the release of the game wouldn't nessacerily mean the end of the updates. Which kind've makes me wonder why he's in such a hurry to release it.
I think the whole idea is to release it at Minecon, for better or worse. He can't exactly reschedule such a massive event because some code isn't working right, and delaying the release will piss off a good portion of the audience.

Of course, the whole thing could have been avoided if Notch didn't announce a release date, but...

Did you retool the selected shipyard to build that class first?

Fuck now I want to mod in the slow corruption of the world, with an increase in mob activity as time goes by and specific ways to remove or hold back corruption. Maybe with little corrupt nexus which spread it that you can then defeat to remove it for a while.
Screw nexuses.

It will be a slow wave that moves towards where you are. There is no stopping it. At some point the place you have decided to take as your home will be corrupted by it and you will have to leave. Will you be underground and unable to leave when it reaches you, will it be night, with endermen watching you run?

Sorta like the shadow thing from Amnesia.
Sounds like you want a separate game mode. Plenty of people love the sandbox style of Minecraft as it is now. If you force people to abandon their awesome fortresses, redstone contraptions, and cube art, they'll feel resentful towards the game and stop playing.

I agree with that a little bit. Nothing in the 1.9 pre-releases seems to have really enhanced the vanilla feel very much; potion brewing and dragonslaying and enchanted equipment all feels a little tacked-on, more like an officially-incorporated mod than an update to the game. I was hoping Notch would pull some magic that tied it all together, but it looks like that's not going to happen before 1.0.

Took the words right out of my mouth. It seems like Mojang just doesn't realize what made minecraft so popular and unique in the first place. Either that or they are just adding on superfluous and ill-fitting features so that they can release a "finished" version of a game that was essentially done months ago.

Indeed. I don't agree with them making final bosses, or even adding an ending to that! Terraria had bosses, and was practically a Minecraft clone, granted. But they didn't add endings to that game, and each world was a unique biome, instead of a boss arena with tons of endermen floating in the nothingness.

Minecraft is a sandbox game, and they kinda forgot what that means.

EDIT: If they wanted to add bosses, they should add 'super beings', which have high health, high damage, are not to be underestimated by just cherry tapping them.

Something like a boss to unlock a dungeon would be alright, but a boss that ends the game? No way.
Quoted for truth. Minecraft doesn't need "final bosses", it needs more open-endedness! I do like the idea of super-mobs, and they wouldn't be terribly hard to implement:

At least in older versions, slimes would only spawn in certain chunks, and only deep underground. If you didn't find those chunks, or there weren't any cave systems nearby, you might never find slimes. Perhaps each super-mob would have certain spawning rules and a percentage chance of appearing when the chunk is generated. Perhaps Minecraft could take a page out of Terraria's  book and make craftable summoning devices.

I kinda think Notch is rushing the whole "full release" thing.

I mean, look at Dwarf Fortress: It's been in alpha for who-knows-how-long, but it has a ton of features and most everything fits together. I'm perfectly fine with that.

I'd also be just fine if Minecraft stayed in beta for a while longer. Vanilla doesn't need new features as much as it needs said features tomesh together perfectly.

I mean, you can't even pick up those
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Surely Notch needs some sort of plan for them!

I also haven't seen a correlation between commander Xenology skill and the quality of the finds. I believe that it affects the chances of a brigade recovering a ruin within a given time period, not how good the loot is.
Makes sense. No matter how smart Indiana Jones is, he's not going to find a gatling gun in lost Amazon village.

...Ok, that's a horrible example. All I'm saying is you can't find something that isn't there.

More engineer brigades increase your chance of exploiting the ruins, giving shitty returns.

I'm not sure I understand. The whole point of ruins is looting them, correct? Free fuel, structures, minerals, and research doesn't seem that bad to me.
I think the idea is that, as more people show up, more engineers loot stuff for their personal gain, rather than the good of your empire. Black market, basically.

You know, that's a good question, and I'm not entirely sure. Let's look at Yuri's stats, at level 1 and level 2:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Most of his stats increased by one, except for Leadership which increased by two. Leadership is, of course, the captain's primary skill.
Now, Yuri is the protagonist, and thus his skills may level differently than the others. I'll have to see how someone else increases for comparison.

Also, it's a really good game, if rather complex. I heartily recommend it.

Part 5: Leaving Ropesk

This is both weird and awesome.

I have to say, the tiny switches are kind of cute.
Dear god, that is BEYOND awesome. Is it a separate mod that shrinks the player down, or is that part of this one?
