14 hell yeahs, not including my own? It's on, babies  8)
The first post shall be edited to have a more thorough introduction to the game, plus official rules of the thread, stuff like that.

@ EuchreJack: Hello again, yeoman! No committees this time, this game is much more story-driven than GalCiv. Things will be kept somewhat informal in regards to decision making.

Infinite Space is a space-themed RPG created by the suspiciously-named company Nude Maker. That alone might not make it stand out among the endless number of fantasy-themed games. Where it shines, however, is the real-time battles, huge list of characters (almost 100 crew members, not counting the insane number of supporting cast), many dozens of full 3D ship models (surprisingly well-detailed, for the DS), massive amounts of customization, and an epic story that covers two galaxies. It is also one of those rare games that you can tell the ratings board didn't cover very well; heads get blown off, eyes get stabbed, and people get DRUNK (with hi-larious consequences).

While the game was well received in Japan, western audiences got turned off by the sheer scale of the game and the admittedly somewhat cliched storyline, not to mention how difficult the battles can be (random encounters can kill you if you don't figure out the combat system quick). Personally, I enjoyed it very much, and was nearing the end of the game when I somehow lost my cartridge (  :'( ).

This will be a screenshot LP with LOADS of text. Keep in mind that this is a space opera inspired by stories from sci-fi giants like Clarke and Asimov. If you frequently visit the Something Awful LP forum, you'll probably recognize the practice of using cut-out heads to tell the dialogue, rather than full screenshots. This will PROBABLY NOT be a 100% run; in fact, getting 100% in a single game is pretty much impossible thanks to branching dialogue paths and the ability to pick different sides in different conflicts. Some optional crew members are pretty dang hard to recruit as well.

Audience participation is encouraged, mostly when it comes to decision making. If you have a creative streak and want to RP or whatever, that is fine as well - so long as it doesn't get out of hand.
One more thing: unless I spoil it first, this thread has a NO SPOILING policy. I'm guessing that quite a few readers have never even heard of this game, much less played it. Be kind and take any discussions about the ending or whatever to private messages. Hell, I don't even know how it ends.

And now...let's sail the sea of stars!

Orbital bombardment.
Care to be more specific? Y'know, like the first post in the thread "suggests"?

at this point, I am beginning to think that anyone who can't follow the ONE SIMPLE RULE to this thread must, in fact, be trolling us.
Don't be so sure. Einstein once said that the only limitless things are the universe and human stupidity, and he wasn't so sure about the former.

I've seen the bastards pick up containers, furnaces and stone brick before, don't tell me that their wee arms can't take the load.
Upon re-reading the wiki page, I see that IN THE FUTURE, endermen will only be able to pick up lightweight blocks. My bad.

Actually, I'm under the impression that Endermen can only move certain block types (like wood, dirt, etc). I'm guessing that custom block types won't be affected.

You DO realize that creepers don't just explode randomly, right?

Set up an area in which they don't spawn (well-lit), and if you see any shoot them with a bow. Problem solved, no destruction of whatever "technic" is required.

Oh, I'm sure there's a mod out there to disable creepers. Or you could enable peaceful mode, but that disables hostile spawns altogether.

Why does that sound like something captain murphy from Sealab would do?

Murphy: You move over.
Helmsman:Sir, I don' think that's a good idea I'm in the process of reducing our speed to safe-
Murphy: I said move over!
*helmsman is punted out of chair, murphy flips a switch on the helm controls, lights turn on*
Murphy: Ahh, much better, now I won't be eaten by a Grue. ^_^

*boom, episode credits*
I don't even remember why I wanted the lights on. It was a stupid spur of the moment decision, which lost me a cargo bay of very valuable minerals XD

(This is a little late, but...)

My "SafariSam" seed continues to provide strange and wonderful landscapes and features!
First, the "spires" I mentioned in my first post, which I now believe were the result of a chunk error (so, probably un-reproducible). Here are some close coordinates, in case you want to try and find them for yourself:

Here is a view from the base of the spires, which I have named "The Claws of Netherrack"

See the blue dot in this next picture? That there is the Void.

But wait, there's more!
While exploring the land around my home with a map, I stumbled across an underwater mineshaft! I was simply swimming through a lake, when I noticed that some clay appeared to be "floating" underwater. When I swam over to investigate, I was sucked down into a massive cavern, where zombies began attacking in the glow of a lava fall. Thankfully I had plenty of torches, and tools, so I decided to go exploring. Here is a picture of the "entrance", as seen from a ledge near the waterfall that dragged me here in the first place:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Apologies for the darkness of the image, it was nighttime. However, if you look carefully you'll see a creeper floating at the surface of the lake. It spawned in the cave.

Inside the mines, it is very twisty with lots of dead ends and gaps in the wall leading to additional caverns. I found a cave spider spawner; those things were a bitch to kill, and they were smart enough to hide in small gaps that I couldn't approach without getting bitten at least once. At least the treasure chest they guarded contained watermelon seeds!

I also may have found a creeper spawner *shudder*. I encountered a creeper in the tunnels, which thankfully exploded behind a wall. I found another creeper in a dark tunnel which I managed to kill without injury. When I turned the corner and found two MORE creepers, I turned around and walled off the hallway. I'll return some day, but I wasn't about to risk all of my loot without building a small base with a bed and chest.

More to come, maybe!

Shores of Hazeron again.

Pro-tip: When approaching a planet at a considerable percentage of lightspeed, don't take over the helmsman's station so you can turn on the interior lights.

I wish for a MMORPG set in the Mass Effect universe. The two main factions would be Council Space and the Terminus Systems, but any playable species can join either (or some other) faction. The classes are pre-defined, and any player species can become any class, but each species has strengths and weaknesses.

Human: General jack-of-all-trades.
Asari: High biotic potential.
Turian: Skilled soldiers and leaders.
Salarian: Tend towards finesse rather than firepower or strength.
Krogan: Raw power and toughness.
Quarian: High shield strength, tech experts.
Batarian: Shrewd and sneaky.

There would be nothing stopping a quarian from becoming a berserker, or a krogan becoming a healing class, though they might not be as effective at those jobs as other races. Roleplay would be the key here.
I think it would be best done by having different starting areas and factions for each species. Krogan would be based on Tushanka, and often be on ships with primarily krogan crews, but others might become mercenaries and fight for random factions. There'd be multiracial crews on Council, or whatever its called, vessels, mostly human crews on alliance vessels, etc.
That way you'd both foster a sense of camaraderie better than "everyone v. reapers" while making it not be totally unthinkable to have a krogan healer or brute salarian.
I agree that each race should have a sort of starting area and questline. Say, humans have received their first assignments in the Alliance military, quarians could be on their Pilgrimage, that sort of thing. And some players may choose to stick with their own species.
Keep in mind however, that people in the ME universe can and will work together with other species. Krogan, of course, hire themselves out as mercenaries, but that isn't the only way they explore the galaxy. Criminal gangs in particular tend to be multi-racial.
