You guys and your mods. Play vanilla, it won't killya!
 :P

I'll play on vanilla once they catch up on all the stuff they were suppose to do and stop releasing broken pre-releases. And then heavily mod that too.
You do realize that the entire point of public beta testing is to have the public find bugs for you, right?

And considering how often Notch adds new features, the game might never get a final release version (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, considering what this forum is all about).

ECrownofFire, you want crazy contraptions? How about a fully working paint program? Aside from some inventory hacking, this is pure vanilla.

What's this I don't even...
Aside from the apparent physics it isn't that bad. Better than all previous attempts.

(They tried to use multiple cubes for them, good god that looked terrible.)
I haven't seen these previous attempts, but I'll take your word for it. At least these look like they "fit" in the graphical style.

Effects of nebulas, from http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/topic,965.0.html :

- No missiles.  Period.
- No shields.  Period.
- Passive sensor strength is divided by nebula level.
- Active sensor strength is divided by nebula level.
- Chance to hit with beam fire controls is divided by nebula level.
- Max ship speed is (2500km/s / nebula level) * ship armor level.  So, a level II nebula limits an armor-1 ship to 1250km/s.

Also the planet generation might be different.
...Y'know, I think I'll just delete nebula from now on. There doesn't seem to be a single upside to them, but a hell of a lot of downsides.

This thread?

Those're just mountains. Were the spires something else? I panned the crap around and out of that plains and I found no spires.

Skepticism aside, it IS a good seed- villages nearby, mountains being split by valleys, massive ponds, rivers aplenty, etc.
Oh right. I was trying to access the HackForum thread <_<

No, those aren't the spires. I'm guessing I had a chunk error or something, which relocated some columns of stone directly up. Any tips on getting MC to run better on a 32bit Vista?

The latest official one. 1.81, IIRC.

Let's see...I think you spawn on top of a small hill surrounded by (very) deep rivers. If you turn around and start heading southwest, that should be the general direction.
If your fog distance is high enough, you may be able to see them in the sky from quite a ways. It's in the middle of some grassy plains.
Just be careful; there are quite a few pits in the area that you might stumble into.

Just posted it and screens on MCforums and HackForums (minecraft section)

Regards,
Pjwaffle

PS. I gave you credit!
Aw, it won't let me read the thread  :(
So the spire formed for you too? Interesting...

Scout, have you been keeping them up on maintenance? If ship components start failing with nothing to fix them with, the ships may explode

I hit upon a weird landscape feature in one of my most recent worlds. Essentially, there is a pattern sticking out of the ground and extending into the sky. At the bottom of each "spire" is bedrock, then a couple blocks of iron ore, and the rest is stone. There are a couple of "bridges" between each spire, and each spire starts higher above ground.

And yes, the ground underneath each spire is missing, and you can look straight into the void.
I'll get a screenshot up when I have the chance. Anyone see something like this before?

Pictures. Now.

Maybe a seed too, but it's hard to say if that'll reproduce it.
I'll get pics when I can. Sadly, the only places I can really play Minecraft are in my database class (Mondays and Wednesdays) and on my friend's computer. My computer hasn't been able to play since the 1.8 update, presumably due to memory problems.

I can give you the seed, or at least what I typed in myself: SafariSam
(it's my Minecraft account name)

A seagull? As in, those birds from Finding Nemo? They killed you?
Damn  :o

Most recent death, after building a beacon:
"Hmm, what would be the fastest way down? I think I can land in that pool of water and avoid fall damage!"
Nope. *SPLAT*

Created a new species in Shores of Hazeron. While I like the system my new empire is starting from, the local wildlife would give a DF player nightmares. From flying, nigh-impossible to hit giant bugs to what look like a cross between molemen and squid.

The worst creature of all, however, is the horrific Titan. This beast is three times the height of a man, is amphibious, and can take a full clip of shotgun ammo plus three slashes from a vulcium (think adamantine) knife before dying.
The worst part is that it can burrow underground (remaining completely undetected) and can one-shot anything not wearing power armor.

My last three deaths were from these things >.<

Was building a waste incinerator using lava and trapdoors. While trying to add more blocks to create a safety railing of sorts, I took a step to far and fell on top of the hatch. I couldn't jump out.

A smart person would have simply used a pickax to mine away enough stone to escape. What I did was try to jump and place a block.

Opened door. Fell into lava. All items, including map, iron tools, full stack of redstone, and 10 diamonds burned to a crisp.
On the bright side, my incinerator works exactly as advertised  :D
