That hypothetical first missile would have to be a hell of a lot larger than size 2  ::)

While I haven't played around with missiles much, my impression is that splitting a missile like that would destroy the first one. All that stuff you're talking about would only end in a single tiny missile.

Now, if you fired off one huge missile, which split into two smaller, and so on and so forth, that would probably work. The reload time would be nasty, but it would probably work.

Not in my games. Earth usually lasts for at least five years before I run out of anything, depending on the mineral. Sorium always runs out fastest, while duranium or mercassium tend to last longest.

I don't usually build any mines until I know what I'm looking for, and then build only automated mines for export to other planets until Earth runs out and I have off-world populations.

You can auto-assign officers in the Officer menu.

I played a few hours of this. Just got the truck.

It's very atmospheric and quite tense. The fact that I'm limited to melee makes it quite fearsome to fight off zombies. It's not like L4D2 where you can swing endlessly either. The stamina system makes it far more deliberate.

I think it's quite nice, what I've seen so far. What I've seen also makes it extremely geared for co-op. I really think the game wants you to play this Co-op and not solo.
Co-op ain't bad if its easy to get in and out of...  without getting hit by loading screen after loading screen...

Also, L4D2, you can't melee forever, there is a hidden stamina thing where you melee enough times/infected, your swings start to get sluggish and then stop.  I think this change may have been patched in some time ago... or it just only applies in Versus and Advanced/Expert mode.
The fatigue meter only applies to the right-click push-back attack. You can swing the sharp end of an axe all day long in L4D2.

The trailer made me LOL, and was surprisingly well-made. Almost looked real.

Also, a game with mechanics like the one ^^^above^^^ would be totally awesome, and I would play it (assuming that those weren't the ONLY tactics available, just the really bastardy ones).

Now I'm glad that I decided against pre-ordering <_<;

I hope you guys get your game on soon. Despite my earlier reservations, the video series I posted actually makes it look pretty fun. I'm looking forward to some Bay Watcher's review.

Try Robotek HD. It's a mix of strategy and luck, and except for two premium features totally free (not even ads). Really pretty graphics too.

Here's the first video of the walkthrough I mentioned:

Sadly, no zombie killing until the second video, but this one has some more background information.

That may be so, but remember that Borderlands wholeheartedly embraced the silliness that it decided to pursue. This was not a bad thing; in fact I remember laughing out loud at several moments (mostly involving Claptrap).

Dead Island, on the other hand, seems to be trying to mix a "serious" setting with bizarrely over-the-top weapons and zombies. It's a weird contrast.

Actually on the contrary... DeadIsland is also a silly setting OUTSIDE THE AWSOME INTRO THAT I WISH WAS THE GAME!
Really? Forgetting about the fact that they've kept the sad theme music and the hanging dude logo, the characters seem much more subdued than the Vault Hunters and there are mature themes such as drugs and alcohol.

As an aside, I am watching a walkthrough of the fist couple of levels, and so far I'm not seeing any non-combat silliness (though apparently you can kill zombies by kicking them repeatedly).

Just for fun I made a little scenario to play with. Figured someone else might like playing with it too, so I'm uploading it.

Is this on the newest version?

Actually, you'll want to put ECM III on all your ships facing the Thalan, instead of point defense.

For defending against weapons of an incorrect type, only the square root is used.  But the minimum is one.

So a defense of one will remain one, as with the ECM.

Plus, each defense gets its own defense roll, so multiple defense systems can really pay off.
I know in a general sense how combat works. I was just using the generic term point defense for anti-missile defense X3

Welcome, fresh meat loyal follower! I'm always looking for tips and suggestions! :3

EuchreJack, I don't care how cheesy something is. If it'll help the Alliance survive, I'm all for sticking a single point defense mod on each of the new ships >:|

But right now we need ships, ships, and more ships. And, apparently, floating version of what I'm gonna say are my head.
