Some good news at last: my aunt is breathing on her own again rather than needing ventilation. No real news on my uncle, but I'm pretty sure I would have heard something if he had taken a turn for the worse so I'm hopeful there as well.

377
: "Very well Wada-san, I'll take you at your word. I'd like to assist in those deliveries."

378
What's the difference between these new settlements and the bases that NMS players have been able to create for some time?

379
Kenji tapped the second item on the list.

: "What sort of deliveries are these, exactly? Fast food orders?"

380
Amberly examined the objects carefully.

: "Hmm. I'm afraid I have never seen a disc like this this one before. I suppose it could be a key of some kind, but it doesn't really resemble any keys I'm familiar with. This rune, on the other hand, is a component on a sealing spell. There was a similar rune on the door that the Captain smashed down. It isn't normally placed on small handheld objects, though. Mostly on doors or lockboxes or similar things..."

I can tell you're buzzing with excitement!

To no one's surprise except apparently my parents', my uncle (the husband of the aunt mentioned last week) also tested positive for Covid. The aunt's in the hospital, but apparently she's not critical since she's texting us.

Now we're trying to figure out if we might have been exposed, since we saw them in person earlier this month/late last month. Might have to get tested for the first time, we'll see.

ETA: Aunt's going on the ventilator. Hopefully it's just temporary.

383
Very nice! That's a pretty fantastic raise, and one well-deserved (or so I assume).

384
Amberly covered her mouth and fought down the urge to be sick. The cultists' deaths didn't really bother her; the original plan had been to fight them all off, after all. It was the sheer senselessness and suddenness of the mass suicide that upset the nun. Once she was reasonably certain that her lunch was going to stay down, she responded to Gawen's inquiry.

: "I...I don't know. Give me a moment to study them, please."

385
Is this the first effective 1-statter this whole game? STR is literally useless on a Nun->Inquisitor.

386
: "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see what Wada-san has to say."

"Tea works just fine, Thank you." It was nice to see hospitality within the group. She takes the cup before taking a small sip, "So... you're an artificial being huh...?" Well, at least this could be a bit more believable than being a god. Though, still a bit out there. "Are you alright with that being your name, TS 42-1?" It was a bit of a mouthful too, "Not to be rude but, wouldn't you like a usual name like Jack or something?"

: "That is a subject of some debate among the group, miss. I am afraid that no consensus has been reached as to what name I should have or whether I should have one at all. If TS 42-1 is too unwieldy, may I suggest simply referring to me as 42? I will understand what you mean."

Raising an eyebrow at the self proclaimed test subject's approach, Dan perks up a little  after hearing a snippet of their life story.
: "Oh? Could you tell me more about your old master?"

: "I don't often hear of magicians with such potentially equal caliber you see, but anyone who could create a living, thinking person with magic alone sounds like a worthy rival."
42 bowed to the other newcomer.

: "Forgive me for correcting you, but my Old Master did not create me purely from magic. I understand he experimented with a great many materials before he finally stumbled upon--that is to say, discovered a workable recipe. As I was ultimately deemed imperfect, he set to work on refining his methods to create more capable homonculi. Unfortunately, he blew up himself and most of his lab, and his records were destroyed."

388
: "Could we watch your duel? It's been a while since I've witnessed a proper swordfight."

Chikara mumbled something about "just wanting to eat" but didn't contradict his sister.

389
: "As for meself, I will be returning to me homeland for tha time being. This world will be undergoing many changes in the coming years, and humankind will need a shepherd ta prepare them for tha future. Plus I can continue me priestly duties." The old man's face broke into a rare, warm smile as he looked around.

: "Worry not! Ye can visit any time ye wish, and if ye ever need me services all ye have ta do is call. Even if I be visiting tha afterlife, I will come running with staff in hand."

One of my aunts has apparently caught the 'rona. She was vaccinated AFAIK, but she's coughing and wheezing and, most damming, has lost her senses of taste and smell.

She's gotten tested, and I haven't heard about any results yet, but it sure sounds like covid to me.
