Gnosis Art: Sword and Soul Unleashed
Chidori and Chikara strike in perfect synchronicity, attacking a foe twice: once with a physical weapon and once with a magical weapon. This Art fails if either weapon lacks the proper Range to hit the target.
Gnosis Burst: (to be given a sufficiently weeby name later)
This burst can target the Twins or an ally within three tiles. For three turns, or until the unit is downed, the selected unit behaves as though they are under the effect of Sword and Soul Unleashed. A unit using a physical weapon will use the Twins' stats for the magic attack, and vice-versa for a unit using a magical weapon. In addition, the unit is granted the skill Ignis if they did not have it already.
Bio: One dark day twenty years ago, an Avropan merchant woman went into labor in the city of Satsuma. The gods must have smiled on her, for although the birth was very difficult she was tended to by a visiting Kobayakawan pharmacist of considerable skill, and after nearly twenty-four hours she bore a healthy set of twins. The merchant woman and her husband, an Izumo native, named the daughter Chidori and the son Chikara.
Even for twins, the Chis were unusually attached to each other. They were finishing each other's sentences nearly as soon as they could talk, and exploring everywhere together before they could walk. As they grew up, the other children were somewhat unnerved by the twins' antics and tended to exclude them from the traditional games of adolescence. The two were forced to find their own amusement; Chidori would pick up sticks and swing them to defeat imaginary foes, while Chikara would study the world around them and occasionally "cast spells" via throwing chestnuts.
Years passed, and the twins remained as close as ever. Although they developed their own talents and won some small renown as individuals, their true abilities only shown through when the two worked together. It was by battling in unison that they defeated the bandit Okuu, striking him down with simultaneous sword blows and magical thunder strikes. It was their teamwork that kept their ship to the mainland afloat when an unseasonable tsunami struck. When the Wyvern Queen attempted to consume the village of Yoritoma in order to feed her brood, Chikara ended the beast's reign of terror with a thunder bolt while Chidori battled the ravenous hatchlings. Later, when the lord of Windsong unjustly imprisoned every Misaki in his province, it was Chidori who defeated him in single combat while Chikara held reinforcements at bay with a magical shield.
Over and above their deeds however, it was their combined dream that drew the goddess Fuyin's attention. The twins dreamed of constructing a great tower that could reach the Moon and the stars, through which humankind would find true freedom in the Infinite Heavens. Touched (or perhaps amused) by this notion, the goddess sent the twins a matching set of earrings, turning them into shared holders of the Aura Gnosis.
The two Kaneko siblings have much in common, but they are not wholly identical. Chidori tends to be the more impulsive and light-hearted of the two, approaching life with a cheerfulness bordering on naivety. She views herself as a warrior-queen out of legend and, although she holds no real talent for the art, will often come up with poems to speak as her whims dictate. Chikara in contrast is the more studious and thoughtful of the two, as well as the more cautious of the pair sometimes to a fault. While he is no stranger to joy or good humor, he tends to open up slowly among strangers.
