On the other hand, the Bowgun is pretty weak. I'm open to the argument of Gilbert going without, , saving gold, focusing on the heals, and waiting for a better xbow to show up later.

Of course. However, I could take 15% out of SKL and shove it into MAG instead. It'd be a decent boost to healing ability for no real downside (other than the lack of Light magic on promotion).
