To be fair, they are somewhat different games. Plenty of people can handle Dwarf Fortress just fine but struggle with games that require good reflexes and predictions of movement.

How does one get steam geysers on asheet ice map? It's nothing but ice and salt water.

I'm curious on how ice sheet starts are even possible, nowadays.  A guide I read for them was somewhat out of date and patches have apparently made it not work the same. The game ended when a particularly long period without wind made my pawn freeze to death.

Stepping to the side to let her proclaimed rival get his own turn with the charred Fiend, watching the Fiend in question be reduced to dust with a confident smirk,

"An impressive display Mordecai. Not a shred of mercy should be left for creatures of darkness such as these" she commented, flourishing her cloak as she made her way over to where she had seen the two Seekers move off to... Now met with the site of her classmates facing off against a surrendering 'Justice', causing a slight frown to form on her face. How was she supposed to make sure Justice remembered her name if he was beaten before she got to him?

: "High praise, coming from you. Thanks." Mordecai started to follow along to where the rest of the class seemed to be gathering, but there was a commotion and the winged lunatic calling himself "Justice" was gone.

: "Damn. So much for that. Hopefully he'll be caught before he can orchestrate another attack..."

Blitzgott covered his face in a tragic manner, similar to what one might see in an amateur stage production.

"Alas! The only Compatriots I have met are you two, Headroom, and my Greatest Rival: the one called Remiel. My meditations in the Room of Simulated Battle have prevented me from interacting with Others. I must confess as well, that so Engaged was I upon consuming my Rations for the evening that I failed to pay attention to much else."

Mordecai staggered as he leaned over to pick up the shield, nearly falling over. He'd never used the ancient gamble technique before; the shock to his body was greater than he had expected.

: "Urgh. Going to have to be careful with that moving forward..."

519
42 thought back to all the times he had fed Sir Blobbington. Surely such creatures couldn't cause crazy adventurers to settle down, right?

: "I do not recall hearing of mimics before. They sound rather dangerous, however; what are they?

520
: "Well done, Reeve! Now allow me to finish it off for you."

Mordecai approached the smoldering behemoth as he casually stowed his current tome and picked out a new one instead. His earlier nervousness had vanished; in its place was only a calm sort of fury directed towards these creatures. These monsters that apparently existed only to destroy innocent lives, whether on their own initiative or on someone else's. He was no longer afraid of them.

Which was all well and good, but it didn't mean he could take such things lightly. This giant tortoise Fiend was still a major threat, and Mordecai intended to swiftly and surely put it down for good. There was a special technique that certain dark mages could learn, one that would draw on his body's stamina to fuel greater magical might, which seemed perfect for this situation. He'd be slow and awkward for a time, less able to fight effectively until he could recover, but if his reading of the situation was correct the battle would soon be over anyway.

: "For my people, for my clan, and for my father. Begone."

Mordecai moves to K-12 and hands his Whetstone over to Reeve. He then switches to Toxic, activates Ancient Gamble to maximum power, and obliterates the Adamantoise.

The bulls are clearly loyal servants of Okran. What were you doing that you needed to hide, brother?

Mordecai goes to L-11 and blasts the bear.

Blitzgott was so startled, he half came to attention. Then he laughed so hard he had to lean against the wall to stay up.

"E-e-excellent, Boss! You hahahaha-have already begun to master the power of Words!"

524
42 ponders this for a moment.

: "It sounds like they would fit in perfectly with our group. Both in terms of oddity and generosity. Do they still go on adventures?"

Blitzgott nodded eagerly, slipping back into his normal confident air.

"More than survived; I have thrived! My Arts are superior to what they were in the Before times, my focus and Will beyond that of mere mortals! Fear not, Boss, for I am hale and hearty. I shall not Fail you."

It was at this point that the two of them stumbled upon a sleeping figure. "What is this now? Another of our wayward Compatriots? Or perhaps an Invader! Shall I smite them, Boss?"
