Anyone know how to get shields on space stations? I just finished a bit of a nasty war with the same dudes I fought last time, and every orbital platform they had was shielded. Even the mining and research stations!

My torpedo boat swarms were killing them faster than my main battle fleet since they could just punch straight through their defenses.

Californians have an accent?  ???

I guess it makes sense that we would, but I've been all over the country and no one's been able to identify me just from my voice.

Maybe in the Stellaris universe, the SEP effect is a universal technology. A primitive mammal will subconsciously ignore the fact that its world's new Global Leader is a purple slug-thing because it, and every other member of its species, assumes that it is Someone Else's Problem.

No, probably not. It's just the panic train talking, like how everyone is planning to move to other countries. Give it a few months and 99.99% of them will still be here.

Would having THE IMAGE deployed cheer you up a little? Maybe?

Super-Cali-fragile-exit-because-Trump's-atrocious.

(Um, are you really gonna vote for this guy?)
Quickly dropping in to say that I love this.

Also California couldn't make it on its own. The military wouldn't even need to get involved; all the government would have to do is shut down our water sources and we'd be begging to be let back in within a year at most.
Now, if several Western states all decided to break away at once...

The election added a few dozen pages all by itself, I'm sure.

I don't expect much aside from less physical assault. Even the teachers are preaching about how Trump will save America, and one of my classes had a massive discussion on how Pence will purge the "LGBT hate movement" from our country before my teacher got them to stop talking like that in front of the two gay students.

California?  :-\
We're supposed to be one of the better states, dammit.

I don't suppose your school has security cameras? Maybe they got some footage showing the attackers.

So my company unveiled its new Paid Time Off policy today.

I like it. I've never had PTO before, so maybe it sounds better than it is, but the numbers look pretty good. Just starting out, we can accrue up to 12 days of PTO per year. Up to half of that carries over to the next year. The more senior you are in the company, the more days you earn each year and the more carries over.

Even better, we now get paid holidays. Previously we got certain holidays off (Christmas Day, Independence Day, etc) automatically, but if you wanted to be paid you had to use your PTO. Now everyone gets paid days off on certain holidays, it doesn't come out of our PTO pool, and if you choose to work on that day you get the holiday pay plus whatever you earn that day.

Just wanted to throw out some non-politics-related happiness.

Well, I guess I'm done with the WTF thread for today. Just wanted to say my piece.
