Mordecai originally came from a fairly drab, rural area where nearly all clothing and fashion was simple and functional. Upon arriving in York to attend Solrise, he had been dumbstruck by the sheer variety of styles on display and the modes of speech employed by natives and visitors alike. He knew that he had stared like the bumpkin he was, but two years had inured him to most of the oddities of metropolitan culture.

This was a little much, though.

: "Um."

: "Er, what I mean to to say that last I saw Professor Estelle, she was speaking to a kamuy girl near the dorms. That was a while ago, though. Were you supposed to meet her here?"

572
In case it was missed, Mordecai heads to the East Wing for traps and/or tea.

True to his word, Mordecai slowed down as Reeve did. He (perhaps wisely) chose not to comment on the fact that they had barely managed half of the original thirty minute jog so far.

: "Let's walk for a bit, get some wind back. We can get some water from the fountain next time we pass it." He looked down at his jogging partner with a slight smile. "Just think about how much quicker you'll be on your feet next time we get into a class battle. That should keep your spirits up."

@ Felix

A request to have tea? Odd, but Mordecai's social life wasn't so busy that he couldn't take time out of his day for something (hopefully) relaxing like that. Earning some scrip on top of tea would just be a bonus.

: "Thank you, Felix. I'll be sure to stop by some other time to take on another request."
Mordecai signs his name on the request, indicating that he had accepted it. To the East Wing!

@ Reeve

Mordecai supposed that his longer legs were giving him an advantage over the shorter mage, but he refused to slow from his current pace. It wasn't exactly strenuous.

: "I was just thinking half an hour to start, then perhaps moving on to other exercises. To be honest, I have no idea how long you can go for. If you need to slow down for a breather, just let me know." Truth be told, Mordecai was actually quite pleased that Polyion had joined him. Sure, her grandstanding could get irritating at times, but his new rivalry was probably the closest thing to actual friendship the vampire had known since arriving at Solrise. The fact that she was applying herself and thinking of the safety of her peers (in a roundabout sort of way) also caused his respect for her to tick up a couple of notches.

Even without knowing a single lyric I can guess which way a band called Rage Against The Machine would lean, politically speaking :P

@ Felix

Mordecai browsed the shelves a bit longer, but the only item he was actually interested in (a spell invented by the famed druid Duma) was far beyond his limited means. He shook his head at Felix's question.

: "Hm, not today thanks. Not unless you've got some task that pays out eighteen pieces of scrip for me to do.

...You don't, do you?"

@ Reeve

: "Yes, that would be quite unfortunate. A fiend might decide to turn you into a snack." The vampire waited for his shorter companion to finish her stretches, then took off at a fairly easy pace.

: "Well, let's make sure that doesn't happen. I'll run with you for as long as you can manage, then maybe we can do something else." It was pretty obvious that his idea of a "short jog" was somewhat different from Reeve's own.

@ Mus'ad

Mordecai just blinked his red eyes in confusion.

: "What, that's it? I don't know what I was expecting, exactly, but it was something more...revelatory than that. So wait, wouldn't a fake diviner also speak in vague terms? So that they can usually find an interpretation later that fits their prophecies?"

578
Mordecai did his best to control his skepticism. Even if he thought that prophecy was fairly bunk, it was hard to deny that the dracis sitting beside him had something unusual going on.

: "I'd be happy to hear it."

: "Shame on those kids." Mordecai shook his head in annoyance. Thieves had a way of ruining things for everyone else. "I assume they were banned from the grounds, right? If they're willing to steal a shield, they could try to go after something else."

At the training field, Mordecai was just finishing his warm-up stretches when he spotted something - or someone - most unusual.

: "Reeve? This is a surprise. I can't remember the last time I saw you down here when it wasn't for class."

: "I was just about to go for a jog. Would you like to join me?"

579
Mordecai arched an eyebrow.

: "Shouldn't you know already if we did? No, never mind. I don't pretend to understand how your Arte works." The vampire closed his book, giving the matter at hand more attention.

: "I wouldn't say we do have any such stories, to be honest; most of my clan has enough to worry about in the present, and we tend to focus on our history rather than the future. Some of the elders do have designs and hopes for the future, but as far as I know those are solidly grounded in the mundane rather than any sort of fortune telling."

: "We do have one such figure, I suppose; the vampire Boladry and her powers of prophecy, who supposedly lived centuries ago. The problem is that many of her prophecies lean heavily toward the gloomy sort, and most either failed or have not yet come to pass; for instance, her vision that Yamajira would sink into the sea in the 10th century. Obviously, this did not happen."

580
Mordecai looked up from the book he was reading (an interesting, if outdated, treatise on how artes might be used) at his classmate's greeting.

: "Mus'ad, good to see you. What brings you to the library today?"

At the tuck shop, Mordecai looked at Felix quizzically.

: "'Tried to make off'? What happened, did someone try to steal from the shop?"

581
With the training fight over, Mordecai decided to pursue more miscellaneous studies that he normally lacked the time for. Some counseling sessions to help shape his future career as a knight, perhaps, and some time spent in meditation. He'd revisit the alchemy lab as well, since he found the topic so fascinating. After that he'd get in some jogging, and then he'd treat himself to a sauna visit. He hadn't been there since his second year!

Mordecai uses his activity points thusly:
1pt Alchemical Lab: +3 DR for the next battle
1pt Faculty Office for Personal Study
1pt Training Room: boost SPD
2pt Shrine of the Sculptor: boost CON

Free activities: visit Tuck Shop to inquire about Academy Scrip, visit Sauna for relaxation.

Fortify up.

42 apparently missed this entire conversation, for he pushed himself forward.

: "Fear not, Miss Marta. I may be dying, but I will not go to my grave until the garbage has been taken out!
"...by which I mean these ruffians."

M-9, kneecap Bewitched Bouncer E!

584
: "Your class still did quite well. Everyone's Artes were very impressive."

585
Something was...irregular. 42-1 leaned against Marta's pegasus as an odd feeling came over him.

: "I fear that something is wrong, Miss Marta. It feels as though my core temperature is rising, and my heart is beating faster. Could I be dying? I am uninjured, but perhaps my body had only a few months to live from the start. I am happy that I got to meet you, at least..."
