: "I am more and more amazed that there are so many people in the world. I thought the last city was large, but this one appears to dwarf it."
: "...Well that was something different. Don't know what it means exactly but still. Novel. Sorry Will, I didn't catch anything in particular about whoever was speaking. Something about a Zukovich and his machines?"
: "Oh I, uh, just remembered! I have to do a, um, make-up exam with Professor Estelle. Thank you for the advice, and please excuse me." The vampire bowed, then left the gymnasium as quickly as he could without appearing rude. He had no such make-up exam, of course, magical studies were by far his best subject, but the staring had been creeping him out. Mordecai decided to try and avoid the gym for a few days.
Suddenly, Katarina is right next to Mordecai, crouching next to him."...you need to relax. Don't tense up. If you tense up, you'll hurt yourself."
: "I thought tensing up was the point, to make your muscles work harder. If I don't push myself, how will I get tougher?" Not to mention that Mordecai found it rather difficult to relax in public. To the vampire, curling up with a good book was his idea of leisure.
Marta suddenly looks....concerned and then crestfallen."....you know, I forgot, we're on an airship. Shooting stuff in here might not be....the best idea. But maybe we can find something in Ishim? It's a big city."
: "That might perhaps be wise, Miss Marta. I am certain that we will be able to find some sort of archery range to practice at, hopefully well away from any volatile substances."
: "O-oh. I'm afraid I don't know very much about exercising in any sort of proper manner. All I've ever really done is farm work and playing with the other kids. Could you give me some pointers?"
: "I would be delighted if you would teach me, Miss Marta! I confess that I have not dared try to figure it out for myself, in case I suffer the same fate as my old Master. I would leave a most dreadful mess for someone else to clean."
: "Hello Miss Marta! My apologies, I was cleaning the Efreeti and I guess the task ran long. How may I help you today?"
: "My...form? I don't follow."
: "You're on, then. May the best mage prevail!" The vampire noticed that his stew was about finished, so he took it off the direct heat so it could remain at the proper serving temperature. No point bringing it out before Rika's corn bread was ready, after all.
: "Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I trust everyone has been having an enjoyable voyage?"
"Again, thank you. It was fairly trivial, but it's nice to be praised for wondrous success."
"You were very impressive yourself Hoth. You came down upon our foes at full force, right from the start. I might just have a rival when it comes to magical talent."
: "A...a rival?" The idea was startling; he knew he was no slouch when it came to magical arts, but to hear that Reeve of all people thought he might be an equal...
: "Well, I can't say I was expecting that, but it's an honor to hear you say so. I must warn you though, you will find me no pushover. I have just as much desire to prove myself as you do."
"Well, I do aim to please. As you know, I never make empty promises when it comes to my results" Reeve commented as she put down her mixing bowl, sliding over three pie plates in order to handle the crust-making process of her meal.
: "Well, you certainly defeated that giant automaton after saying you would. Nice work, by the way."
