: "Miss Marta! Your aircraft was quite a marvel to behold. It is a shame that most of the audience fled, but perhaps some of the airshipyard owners saw enough to back your project now. Oh, excuse me, you have something..." Setting his tray down, 42 produced a handkerchief and carefully rubbed away some of the oil left behind by Marta's rag.

: "There we go. As to your question, I am afraid that I was unable to put your gift to any use. I did point it at a few of the demons, however."

662
Mordecai ducked as a chunk of automaton went whizzing by at what felt like (but probably wasn't) a hair's breadth away. When he looked up again, he saw the strange patterns that his companion's halo made whenever she activated her Arte arcing towards the remaining fiends.

: "Don't worry, I have no intention of running off." Especially now that the giant bat was going down in a gout of flames; Reeve's work probably.

663
Mordecai shuddered as the giant bat-like automaton activated. The thing was bringing back some unpleasant memories...but it wasn't headed for him and was far out of range, so he tried to put it out of mind. The vampire instead approached the cluster of lesser constructs as Reeve ran off.

: "Good luck, Reeve!"

F-10 and swarm Ungoliant J.

664
Safely back on solid ground, 42-1 took advantage of the fact that everyone fled from the battle in order to commandeer one of the deserted food stands. Soon he had a kettle full of tea, the various fixings his companions most preferred, and a plate of packaged cookies that were only slightly squashed.

: "Drink this, Miss Sitri, it should help settle your stomach. I can attempt to heal you instead, but the tea would probably do you more good." The homunculus deftly placed a steaming mug in front of the half-snake girl and moved on among his companions. Eventually he reached a new pair.

: "Sir Satan, Sir Lucifer? May I offer either of you a cup?"

665
I have a new (or should I say old) offering for the Awoo pile.

666
: "..."

: "Are they...supposed to blow up like that?"

667
: "I see a villager right over here, guarded by four of the fiends...I'm going for it. Who's with me?"

F-12, attack the Ungoliant Automaton.

668
: "This is the only adventuring group I have any experience with, but I get the strangest feeling that the scope of our activities is somewhat irregular. You will note that many of the other teams fled from the battle, while this one rushed in eagerly."

: "Hm, perhaps a return to the ground is in order for Miss Sitri. I would be happy to prepare tea for everyone, and perhaps scrape together something to eat. Murderkrool could probably use a rest as well."

669
42 bowed to both the crystal and the drunkard, then flew off to meet up with Marta and the others.

: "Well, I imagine that the race isn't normally supposed to be this way, but at least first place goes to Team F. I thank you three for your timely assistance once again."

670
: "Here, sir. What do we have to do for a villager to be considered "safe"? Is there a location we need to bring them to? Do we escort them out of the village?"

671
: "Yes sir, on my way!"

As if to make him a liar, Mordecai's tome slipped out of his fingers and bounced away, causing the young vampire to scramble after it for a moment.

672
Oh! That was right, there was a reason everyone was flying around on wyverns above the city. Nudging Murderkrool's flanks to direct the actually rather placid creature, 42-1 made for the deserted finish line and crossed it. Victory! Hopefully the prize money would help Marta's ambitions.

673
: "Oh! Yes, of course we will pass. After all, if we do not then we will be held back a year, which will almost certainly be the end of the journey for some of us."

: "No pressure or anything."

674
: "'The World'? It's supposed to have something to do with new beginnings, isn't it? I am not very familiar with how this method of divination works."

675
: I'm surprised that fortune telling is so popular here. Well, when in York...may I, Mus'ad?"
