In Fates? I don't think they gain any support points just standing around next to each other. Maybe they do.

I know in older games, where support was gained through proximity, standing around next to each other was the way to do it.

ARGH

I was so close to beating Chapter 11 and then a teamed-up enemy attacked one of my squishies that had moved forward to score an easy kill. I had calculated that she could survive an attack from the active enemy, but I had forgotten to check the other enemy. That one had more than sufficient attack power to kill her, meaning that I now get to start this long slog of a chapter all over again.

Dammit Azura, what do I have to do? Have you sing a million times before ending each chapter?

bloated fractal spreadsheet nightmare

Challenge accepted.
I didn't see it as all that bad. Maybe they cleaned up the UI for the PC port, I dunno.

All I recommend is using a controller. Last time I played there was little to no mouse support, and fine aiming with a keyboard is a bit of a nightmare.

General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

So today i learned that a friend of a friend is a character in (probably via winning an auction or a kickstarter pledge. I don't know the details) in some dating sim.
Your friend of a friend isn't a YouTube personality, are they? I heard that a dating sim featuring folks like JonTron is going to be released at some point.

Jontron huh?
Just google Asiago Academy. You'll thank me. Or hate me.

I've got one too. Anyone who wants it, let me know.

"Not helping" the ratman growled to Arioch under his breath. He then spoke louder, to the approaching natives. "It's simple, friends. We were not the first to cross the sea and we will certainly not be last. Some of those who come will gladly kill everyone in this land to take it for themselves. Not even your incredible power will be able to stand against them if you choose to stand alone.

"Instead, we will have to work together. We have already gotten the Red Moons and the Earth Movers to agree to a moot, and should the gods smile upon that meeting we will all become more powerful. If more of the beastmen tribes come together we will be able to face any foe. If your people wish to join us and perhaps find a better life, this is your best opportunity to do so."

Sweet. In that case, I'll take that Treasure Mark off Catherine's hands :V

Does it look as bad as dominions? It sounds as complexable.
Everything is still sprites, if that's what you mean. The ships have lights blinking on them, the engine flare changes based on how fast the ships are moving, that sort of thing. Stars are animated gifs, basically. The UI can get pretty complex, but unlike in Dominions you can have the AI run various aspects of your empire for you. Up to and including the entire game, if you wish. Or you can turn off automation entirely and do it all yourself, which I imagine gets pretty overwhelming really damn quick.

JoshuaFH, I'm a bit confused as to why you're working yourself up so much over things that are completely optional and don't affect your personal gameplay in any way unless you choose to make use of them. So what if someone gives their Awakening characters those legendary weapons? So what if people grind to a silly degree? That's their choice, and if that's how they choose to have fun then more power to them.

I have a buddy whose first action upon getting a new game is to look up cheats and hacks for it. I don't agree with that sort of thing, so you know what I do? I let him go ahead and break his games. He paid for them, he can do whatever he wants as long as he has fun with it. There's nothing wrong with live-and-let-live.

Speaking of promotion items, would you mind passing over that Treasure Mark at some point? Trading usually doesn't require an action.

Well, let's see. The Universe edition includes all previously-released versions and expansions, so you get basically the full DW experience. You can choose from several different "campaigns" taking place at different points in the universe's timeline. You can choose to play as a pirate faction in most of these campaigns if you so desire, shaking down weak empires and poorly-defended worlds for money and supplies.

As a normal empire, you have two primary types of ships: State-owned and Civilian. State-owned ships are your warships, your scouts, your construction vessels, and space stations. You can give them orders, you can decide when to build such things and how many to build, and you pay out of the empire's pocket for each one. Civilian vessels such as freighters, passenger transports, mining vessels, run around and do their own thing. You cannot directly control them in any way, nor can you order them to be built. However, since they are built at your government-owned shipyards, and they are vital for keeping an empire of any size moving smoothly, the construction of civilian vessels actually puts money in your pocket.

I already said there were more than a dozen races. Each of them have a type (humanoid, insectoid, etc), a preferred planet type, special victory conditions to pursue, racial bonuses, and bonuses from certain resources. Many of them also have unique techs, special buildings, or special government types. And speaking of government types, each one has its own bonuses and penalties to various aspects of your empire's abilities. You can change government types during gameplay, though you typically go through a period of unrest by doing so and unhappy worlds might decide to break off and become independent.

And then there's independent empires! Not only do you have the other main factions running around the galaxy, trying to win the game, but there are also dozens of tiny empires scattered all over the place. Sometimes they can be absorbed peacefully into your own empire, other times you will have to conquer them. And if you enable the appropriate settings, these small empires can eventually grow on their own, becoming new main factions that will also attempt to win the game! Pirates can do this as well.

Would you like to know more? There's still a lot to cover but I'd like to know what to focus on :P

I'll stand by to heal people, since I'm sure it will be needed during all this murderizing :P
